Alex Trebek Jeopardy! Suits Being Donated to Formerly Homeless Men

Throughout his career on Jeopardy! Alex Trebek touched the lives of millions of people both on the show and watching from home. After his recent death, his legacy of caring and helping others will live on. Announced earlier today, the show will donate a large portion of Trebek’s on show wardrobe to men trying to get back on their feet.

“Jeopardy! and Alex’s family have donated a large portion of our late host’s wardrobe to The Doe Fund,” the Twitter post reads. “[The Doe Fund is] an organization that provides paid work, housing, and training to underserved Americans with histories of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.”

This is just another example of the goodness of Alex Trebek and his unfaltering kindness. Jeopardy representatives claim that Trebek’s family will donate a huge amount of clothes to the organization. These will include 14 full dress suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 neckties, 25 polos, 14 sweaters, 9 blazers, 9 pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, 2 parkas, and 3 pairs of slacks.

Matthew, the son of Alex Trebek, actually helped make the selections on which clothes to donate. He teamed up with Steven Zimbelman, the costume director at Jeopardy!, to choose which clothes would work best. From what it seems, the lucky recipients of Alex Trebek’s old wardrobe will gain access to many of his gray and darker suits from the show.

Alex Trebek Continued to Inspire Up Until His Final Days

Alex Trebek encouraged everyone to do their best and be their best throughout his career. This includes his protege, Ken Jennings, who has taken over the reins in the wake of Trebek’s death. Recently, Jennings recalled a story that showed Alex Trebek at his best even when he felt his worst.

“I was backstage with him at a tournament and it was before the cancer diagnosis, but he was having a rotten day,” Jennings recalls of Trebek. “He was just feeling lousy. But then the music turned on and the announcer said his name and he just turned into Alex Trebek and walked out there.”

In his final days on Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek certainly had his days of struggle. He died of Pancreatic cancer back in November of 2020, so the pain certainly crept into his life while still on the show. As Jennings notes, however, Trebek is the kind of person who feels his best while at work. “I asked him about it later and it was not a performance,” the interim host continues.

“You know, he’s somebody who actually feels best and is at his most confident and capable when he’s doing his job when he’s hosting ‘Jeopardy!,’ because that’s the thing that he has made himself the best in the world at over the last 37 years.”
