Hours after the news broke that she and her uncle were in a devastating car accident, former Charmed star Alyssa Milano has broken her silence about the situation.

In a statement on her social media accounts this Wednesday (August 18th), Alyssa Milano writes, “Yesterday, my family suffered a terrifying and traumatic event. I was a passenger in a car my Uncle Mitch was driving when he suffered a serious heart attack. Resulting in a car crash.

She further continues by addressing those who stopped to help her and her uncle. “I am grateful to the people who stopped to help us. I’ll never be able to thank them enough for the care and attention they, along with the first responders, doctors, nurses, and staff at UCLA Medical Center paid to him and to me.”

Alyssa Milano also writes that her Uncle Mitch is a very important part of her family. “He’s with us every day, spending time with my children, and present in every meaningful part of our lives,” she explains. The actress shares that her uncle is still at UCLA Medical Center and she’s remains unsure if he will actually recover from the heart attack and accident.

“I hope that you – and especially you in the media – will afford him and my family the kindest of privacy as we move through this incredibly painful time,” Alyssa Milano goes on to state. She then writes she hopes her terrifying situation will inspire others to get CPR certified. She notes that no one really knows when they’ll be called upon to save a life.

“The American Red Cross and many hospitals and other organizations offer regular classes. It’s such a small effort and can have a huge impact,” she adds.

Here Are the Details About Alyssa Milano’s Terrifying Car Accident

As previously reported, Alyssa Milano and her Uncle were driving on the highway in Los Angeles when Milano’s Uncle Mitch suddenly lost consciousness due to a heart attack. As Milano was trying to register everything that was going on, their car drifted into another lane and hit an SUV.

Upon stopping the vehicle, Alyssa Milano performed CPR on her Uncle Mitch until first responders arrived on the scene. Others on the highway stopped to help her during the situation. She and her uncle were then transported to UCLA Medical Center.

Following the traumatic incident, Alyssa took to her Twitter account to share an important message with her followers. “We should all take every opportunity we have to protect the people we love,” she writes. “Get vaccinated. Wear masks. Lock up your guns. Learn CPR. Small, common-sense actions. It’s not hard to take care of each other. But It is important.”
