‘American Idol’ Winner Chayce Beckham Speaks Out on Win, Beating Fan Favorites

by Jacklyn Krol

Your new American Idol is Chayce Beckham!

Beckham beat out fellow Top 3 contestants Willie Spence and Grace Kinstler.

Beckham and Spence spoke to Good Morning America about the finale. The men agreed that it could have gone either way and they both would have been okay with whichever result.

“It was a crazy experience, and I was just happy to be up there with Willie,” Chayce Beckham said.

Amid his sleepless night, he added, “Honestly, you really can’t put words to the way that it makes you feel whenever you win a competition like this. It’s a lot of hard work, but it pays off.”

He later praised his fellow contestants in an interview with Hollywood Life.

“They are incredible vocalists. I can’t speak for everybody, but if you are in the house when Willie [Spence] sings, the whole house shakes and rumbles. You can’t convey it on a television screen,” Beckham shared.

Chayce Beckham on Upcoming Original Music

Post-American Idol win, Chayce Beckham is ready to release his own original music. He has already been hard at work on creating music, even prior to the competition.

“They can put me in the studio tonight and we could put out a single,” he said. “But it’s all up in the air right now depending on what happens with record companies and what they decide they want to do with me. So, as soon as that all gets establish[ed], I think we will get directly into a studio and get a single out right away.”

In the future, Beckham said that he wants his longevity in music to go beyond American Idol. He hopes to be “part of the game as long as possible.”

“And just try to take this platform and momentum and use it to kick start a better career. This is awesome and a dream come true, but realistically, there is so much more that I would like to achieve,” he shared.

Beckham revealed that he will be moving to Nashville, the go-to place to pursue country music. He noted that the town is home to some of the best songwriters in the genre. He hopes that the town can bring him a No. 1 hit.

He doesn’t know what his debut studio album will look like just yet. He said that everything can change once you’re in a studio with fellow musicians, producers, and writers who help collaborate.

That is the beautiful part about music — you get together, and you never know what it will be. I know it will be country and I know it will have tons of beautiful sounds, but what exactly the record will sound like, I’m not sure yet. I am looking forward to finding that out myself and getting my feet wet in Nashville,” he concluded.
