‘American Pickers’: Here’s the One of the Strangest Locations Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz Found Some Unique Treasures

by Josh Lanier

The American Pickers have found some true treasures buried in some very strange places. But there’s one place that sticks out as one of the weirder spots they’ve found things.

Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz climb over piles of trash and dig through mountains of junk in the hopes of finding some rusty golf. But sometimes they’ve had to dig through a house — literally. They’ve found things hidden inside peoples’ walls.

According to one website, the American Pickers said people would often hide things in their walls when constructing their homes many years ago.

Wolfe told the DesMoines Register in 2019 that’s the beauty of American Pickers. Finding and buying a rare item that was hidden away is good for his business, but getting the stories behind those items makes for good television.

“Every object has a story,” he told the paper. “And that story is reflective of a family, or of a place, or of a time, or of a moment. So it’s a show about all of us. It’s reflective of all of us.”

He said it’s why he loves doing the show.

“I’m a storyteller, so is it my responsibility to tell that story?” he asked himself. “I think it is, like, it is big time. (And) the show is at the point now where it’s, like, I want to talk about these things that matter.”

‘American Pickers’ Split Likely Permanent

It doesn’t seem as if the American Pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz will ever hit the road together again. What started out as a small spat has turned into a full-on scorched-earth campaign from former host Fritz.

The split during the production of season 21 of American Pickers when Frank took a sabbatical from the show. He was battling alcohol addiction and had a serious back injury that required surgery. He went to rehab and lost some 65 pounds. But during that entire time, Fritz claims Wolfe never contacted him — for two years.

Fritz told The Sun about the spat but said he hoped to return to American Pickers for the following season. However, producers of the show had stopped taking his calls in October. Shortly after this revelation, Mike Wolfe released a statement on Instagram.

“have known Frank for as long as I can remember, he’s been like a brother to me,” he said in part. “… I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey.”

Fritz was furious and lashed out at his former friend and co-star.

“Mike’s statement was bulls—t. Somebody wrote it out for him,” Fritz told The Sun. “We never were friends in grade school I don’t believe in ten years he’s said five nice things to me, you know? Unless he was cutting somebody else down and we were both laughing.”

The History Channel official removed Frank Fritz from the show’s website recently, effectively ending the discussion on Fritz’s return.
