by Keeli Parkey

The many years he has spent as a host of “American Pickers” have given Mike Wolfe a platform. And, the success of the show has made Wolfe someone that others listen to and respect.

Wisely, the 57-year-old recently used his influence to bring about awareness of the unique small towns that can are located in Tennessee and Alabama. The “American Pickers” star highlighted them in his project, “Nashville’s Big Backyard,” according to a report by Antique Archaeology in October 2020.

In doing so, Mike Wolfe and his team hope to encourage people to visit these small towns. And, in the best possible cases, move there. In total, there are 12 small towns that the “American Pickers” star chose to bring attention to. They are located between Nashville, Tennesse, and The Shoals, Alabama. The project opens up a virtual showroom to those interested in visiting these small towns.

The website also described the hopes “American Pickers” star Mike Wolfe has for this project.

“Mike has always had a passion for small town preservation and community. He hopes Nashville’s Big Back Yard will be a resource for those that are looking to make a move away from the high cost of rent in cities. These rural communities are anchored by two creative urban hubs and the scenic Natchez Trace,” the website says. “Small is the next big thing! It is time to embrace a simpler, more affordable life in Nashville’s Big Back Yard. The ‘Back to the Land’ movement is here to stay.”

The Natchez Trace is a 500-mile trail that joins Tennessee and Mississippi. Should you decide to follow this famous path, you will find places to stop and have a picnic, enjoy beautiful scenery, places to take a hike, and great places for fishing.

‘American Pickers’ Star Mike Wolfe Says ‘Uncertain Times’ Change How We View the World

“American Pickers” star Mike Wolfe said he believed that recent occurrences in world history make moving back to small towns more important than ever.

“Uncertain times have a way of making us rethink how and where we want to live and work. With the changing landscape of American business to include more opportunities for working remote or running a business online, now is the perfect time to make the move back to small town Main Streets and open spaces,” Wolfe also said

According to Mike Wolfe, he wants his efforts to help these 12 small town survive and thrive. “Times like this make us think about what is important for us and our families,” the “American Pickers” host also shared. “What if we could move forward with one foot in the past and the other in the future? Why would we continue to watch the American Dream and it’s history crumble and fade away under our watch when these places still exist — and they need us just as much as we need them.”

So, which towns have this “American Pickers” star decided to highlight? Well, the list includes Leiper’s Fork, Centerville, Linden, Hohenwald, Clifton, Waynesboro, Collinwood, Santa Fe, Hampshire, Mount Pleasant, Summertown, and Loretto.
