‘American Pickers’ Star Mike Wolfe Is the King of Bikes in New Antique Archaeology Photo

by Quentin Blount

If you have been following along with us here at Outsider, then you already know about American Pickers star Mike Wolfe and his love of bicycles. He put his passion on display yet again on Thursday afternoon.

We all know and love Mike Wolfe from American Pickers. He is known as one of the guys who goes around the country in search of old antiques and treasures. But as you can probably imagine, when Wolfe is out picking, he always has his eyes peeled for vintage bicycles. He’s been that way since he found his first bike at just six years old while walking home from school. As a matter of fact, the American Pickers star found a number of bicycles in the garbage. He couldn’t believe that someone would throw them out, so he grabbed as many as he could and started his collection.

“As kids, our first taste of freedom is a bicycle,” Antique Archaeology posted alongside a photo of Wolfe. “Those two wheels took us to school, a friend’s house, the store, and everywhere in between. Tell us about your first bike. What kind and where was your favorite place to ride?”

‘American Pickers’ Fans Reminisce About Their Own Bicycle Memories

American Pickers star Mike Wolfe isn’t the only one out there with a passion for bicycles. As a matter of fact, many of us grew up riding bikes. It seems like there are a lot of fans of the show who agree. They took to the comments section on Wolfe’s most recent IG post.

“In the 60s as a kid I milked cows for one buck a night,” one person wrote. “Saved up and bought the first ten speed in our little town.”

Another fan explained how he still has the very first bike he ever received. And he’s 65-years-old.

“At 65 I still have the bike I got for Christmas, 1967. It’s a blue Schwinn Stingray 3 speed stick shift with the original Schwinn whitwall tires with the rear Schwinn Slick tire. So many memories on that bike!”

Finally, another follower talked about his old Schwinn bike as well. He used to make ramps out in the yard for him and his friends to jump. We’re sure some of you Outsiders out there can probably relate.

“When I was a kid Schwinn bikes were it. I had an Orange Peeler and thought I was the coolest kid on the block. My dad was an engineer and he always said the Schwinns was a well built bike that would last and he was right. Loved to make ramps and jump anything we could, and always without a helmet. Great memories!”
