‘American Pickers’ Reportedly Still Using Frank Fritz Photo on Promotional Mugs After Firing

by Amy Myers

It’s been a while since American Pickers fans have seen stars Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz in the same room, but the History Channel has decided to keep the former co-host’s face on promotional material that it’s selling through the end of the year.

Fritz, made his last appearance on the antique Americana series in March 2020, and since then, both Wolfe and the History Channel have made it clear that Fritz won’t be returning. Still, you can find him in the channel’s online shop on a variety of goods, like mugs, apparel, ornaments and blankets.

Perhaps the show wanted to honor fans of Fritz as well as the former co-host himself for his time on American Pickers. When the History Channel tweeted about its new products, it didn’t make any mention of Fritz’s involvement. Instead, along with the announcement, the channel posted a “pick or treat” photo featuring two products, one with the tagline, “Looking for Rusty Gold.”

The official reason for Fritz’s departure is still up for debate. According to the former American Pickers star, he initially left so that he could recover from intensive back surgery which Fritz with 185 stitches and two rods.

However, recent interviews with the ex-star revealed that at the time, Fritz was also struggling with alcohol addiction. During his hiatus, he even spent 77 days in a rehabilitation center. Now sober for over 11 months, Fritz still hasn’t returned from the show, but that may be the work of his former partner.

‘American Pickers’ Co-Hosts Don’t Speak to Each Other Anymore

Fritz opened up about the situation to The U.S. Sun back in August and discussed his current relationship with Wolfe.

“I haven’t talked to Mike in two years,” the former American Pickers star said. “He knew my back was messed up, but he didn’t call me up and ask how I was doing. That’s just how it is.”

He continued, “That’s fine. It’s like you’ve got Aerosmith and there’s Steven Tyler and he’s the front man. I found my spot, I’m second and he’s number one on the show. That’s no problem with me, maybe he does have a problem.”

Despite the rocky state of his friendship with Wolfe, the time away from the show proved to be a healthy choice for Fritz. Along with his sobriety, the former star dropped a total of 65 pounds since leaving American Pickers. When a few fans of his came to visit his shop in Illinois, he happily showed off his trim new figure.

While these fans and many others would surely love to see Fritz back next to Wolfe, it appears the only place where we’ll see that is the History Channel’s store.
