As the investigation continues into the tragic loss of life on the set of “Rust,” conversations surrounding set safety have completely exploded across the nation. And this isn’t the only scary incident that the world of entertainment has seen, either. “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” narrowly avoided a loss of life themselves when a stunt went horribly wrong in October. Jonathan Goodwin was immediately flown to a hospital for surgery and he remains there today with his partner, Amanda, by his side.

The investigation into his failed stunt is still underway and the production of “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” will remain paused until the investigation is completed. However, an NBC chairman expects the series to make a comeback and premiere midseason in wake of the terrifying accident.

‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme’ Considers Sunday Night Spot

Show execs immediately stopped filming “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” in Georgia after Jonathan Goodwin narrowly evaded death. Chairman Frances Berwick tells Deadline:

“We have an investigation ongoing into what actually happened but we do anticipate the show coming back in midseason. We have a lot of safety protocols in place and we have to conclude the investigation but we have certainly paused production for the time being.”

The Fremantle-produced show would continue on with Terry Crews as host alongside three judges: Simon Cowell, Nikki Bella, and Travis Pastrana. This means more daredevil acts, extreme contestants, and risky stunts.

“We’re actually taking a beat on our Sunday night schedule post Olympics. We have a number of unscripted shows that are in the pipeline and in production, some that we have actually completed production so we’re taking a beat to see the environment and see what goes in there. AGT: Extreme is one of those possibilities,” Frances Berwick added.

Jonathan Goodwin Gives Fans a Recovery Update From the Hospital

Though he has a long journey to recovery ahead of him, Jonathan Goodwin looks to be on the mend. He gave fans this update from the hospital this week with his “best nurse” at his side. Check it out:

His caption says “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” The quote comes from a comedian known as Groucho Marx. Goodwin and Amanda also rock a red clown nose and mustache glasses in a bid to keep spirits up. Now, that’s hero-level stuff.

Actually, Amanda calls him that and so much more in her own Instagram Story. She pens a quick emotional note saying, “My real-life superhero getting slowly and quietly stronger and better every day. Always by your side hubby. Always. I adore you.”
