Following the news that an America’s Got Talent: Extreme stuntman nearly died after falling 70 feet, the show has decided to pause production.
As previously reported, America’s Got Talent: Extreme stuntman Jonathan Goodwin originally planned to hang from a ceiling in a straitjacket while two suspended cars swung on either side of him. He was to free himself and fall 70 feet onto an air mattress while the cars continue to hang. Unfortunately, the stunt didn’t go according to plan.
According to America’s Got Talent: Extreme, the two cars reportedly hit each other and the impact caused both to explode. Goodwin notably sustained “horrific injuries,” which were so bad that witnesses thought the stuntman actually died. He was airlifted from the scene and was rushed into surgery.
An America’s Got Talent: Extreme spokeswoman confirmed to Deadline about Goodwin’s injuries while performing his act. The stuntman is still alive following the incident. “He was responsive and immediately taken to the hospital. He is continuing to receive medical care. Our thoughts and prayers go out to hi an ahi family as we await further updates on his condition.”
People also reported that Goodwin competed on Season 15 of America’s Got Talent. The stuntman even made it to the semifinals. He performed four dangerous acts in front of the show’s judges. The stuntman was also a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2019.
