Long time pals and co-stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn are back at it again with a brand new show.
“Assembly Required,” airing on the History Channel, features the comedy duo as hosts of the reality competition show. The official synopsis of the show states, “home repair experts compete to rebuild and breathe new life into everyday household items.” Allen compares his new show to a reality version of “Tool Time” which he and Karn host on hit sitcom “Home Improvement.”
The History Channel on Twitter posted a preview of an upcoming episode that is sure to draw a lot of attention.
The short video clip shows Tim Allen and Richard Karn explaining to contestants that they will be creating torches. To no one’s surprise, one of the contestants on the challenge accidentally lights himself on fire while attempting to make his torch. The contestant appears to be ok and tells the hosts he “has a few singed hairs” but is otherwise alright. The incident drew quite a look from Allen and Karn as the contestant goes up in flames. Their first concern is obviously for his safety but once given the all-clear, it is on with the show. The episode is airing tonight (Tuesday) on the History Channel.
Tim Allen and Richard Karn Teaming Up Once Again
Allen and Karn have a long history together and make for a great comedy duo. They starred next to each other as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor and Al Borland in Home Improvement. The sitcom was a great success, running from 1991 to 1999, totaling 204 episodes before going off the air. Allen plays a bumbling tool “expert” who often finds himself in difficult positions due to his desire to push the limits. Karn plays the loyal and capable Borland, Taylor’s assistant, who would often clean up Taylor’s messes on the show. Allen and Karn have great chemistry together and it shows on Assembly Required.
Tim Allen recently ended a nine-year run as Mike Baxter on “Last Man Standing.” The show is in its ninth and final season and will be going off of the air soon. Much like with Home Improvement and Assembly Required, the show revolves around Allen’s sharp comedic wit.
