Do you need more Betty White in your life? If you do, you’re in luck. The Grand Dame of Television took to her Instagram account earlier today to make a big announcement. Her vintage series, “Betty White’s Per Set” is coming back and you can stream it right now.
In the post, White says that she is incredibly excited about the show being released on DVD and digital platforms today. Many fans have never seen the show. However, she made it before she hit the big time with “Golden Girls” or any of her other sitcom roles.
The post includes a promo video for the vintage series. It gives viewers a sample of what they can expect from the show. You can see Betty White along with some of the biggest names in vintage entertainment. The short clip does a good job of showing the warmth and humor of the series. That, combined with the animals, makes “Pet Set,” a guaranteed mood booster. As White says at the end of the promo, happiness is a warm puppy.
“Betty White’s Pet Set”
The show was filmed in 1971 according to PR Newswire. After its initial run, the show disappeared. Fifty years have passed since the show aired, so many of White’s fans have never seen the show. Now, we all get the chance to see what the queen of television was like when she was younger.
White came up with the idea for the series based on her life-long devotion to animals. Her husband Allen Ludden executive produced it. Over the course of the thirty-nine half-hour episodes, you can see entertainment greats like Carol Burnette, Mary Tyler Moore, James Stewart, and Michael Landon to name a few.
While some of Betty White’s famous friends do bring their pets to the show, you can see the stars interacting with wild animals as well. The show features cougars, elephants, eagles, wolves, zebras, and more.
As of today, “Betty White’s Pet Set” is available to buy on DVD as well as digital. You can rent or buy the entire series on Prime. However, if you go with the DVD option, there are some special features that make it worth buying. The physical copy of the show comes with featurettes titled “Betty White: Game Show Goddess,” and “Betty White: Queen of Television,” as well as behind-the-scenes looks at the series. The DVD also includes the original television promos for the series.
Betty White said, “If I haven’t told you already, I will now. The Pet Set is one of my favorite shows. I’m thrilled it’s going to be seen again after all these years,” and that is all we need to know, in the end.
