America’s golden girl will turn 99 on Jan. 17. Actress Betty White recently revealed how she plans to celebrate her birthday this year.
Confetti, streamers, and perhaps a congo line would be fitting of an actress, who played some pretty zany characters over her career. But White recently revealed that she planned for her birthday to be a pretty low key affair. She plans to feed the ducks and watch a TV show.
“The Golden Girls” actress joked about life in a pandemic world.
“You probably didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway,” White joked to ET Online. “What am I doing for my birthday? Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by COVID. So I am working on getting ‘The Pet Set’ re-released. And feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day.”
Betty White Starred in ‘The Pet Set’
While audiences may know Betty White for “The Golden Girls,” White is apparently passionate about another of her former shows “The Pet Set.”
“The Pet Set is one of my favorite shows,” White said in a news release about the show’s new platforms. “I’m thrilled it’s going to be seen again after all these years.”
“The Pet Set” aired in the 1970s and explored White’s love for animals. She had some pretty famous guest stars like Mary Tyler Moore, James Stewart, and Burt Reynolds. But it also featured some of White’s furry friends. The show had wild animals like tigers, lions, and bears. It also featured gorillas, wolves, elephants, and eagles. That venture was a joint affair between White and her late husband, Allen Ludden.
On Feb. 23, 2021, the show will be re-released to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
White starred as Rose Nylund on the award-winning show “The Golden Girls” from 1985 to 1992. That show featured four women rooming together and also rediscovering life. White’s comedic timing made her a hit with audiences even today. Meanwhile, White also played Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” from 1973 to 1977.
