When ABC’s Big Sky came off of its brief fall hiatus last night, we were happy to see that Ren was back on the screen—still looking for her lost bags of drugs and money. According to Ren’s Janina Gavankar, things are going to start heating up between Cassie, Jenny, and Ren in upcoming episodes. And, the story that unfolds will be more “complicated” than we can imagine.

Ren is still causing trouble on Big Sky. But as of lately, Cassie Dewell and Jenny Hoyt haven’t had a lot of interaction with the mysterious vixen. Instead, her friend Donno has been leading the PI and detective on a wild goose chase. And of course, he’s been trying to kill them along the way.

But Ren actress Janina Gavankar says that Ren will soon be much chattier with Cassie and Jenny, and it’s going to get interesting. As she told TV Line‘s Kimberly Roots, “Big Sky is their show” after all.

“There’ll definitely be more interaction,” Gavankar shared. “But how that goes down is going to be complicated.”

The actress didn’t quite know how to explain the upcoming situation with the three Big Sky ladies. Gavankar likened the story to a game of “cat and mouse,” but she told Roots that it’s more than that because Ren “is way more chaotic than a cat.” And Gavankar also said that her character isn’t quite like a “honey badger” either, “because they’re just violent.”

However, not being able to peg Ren is exactly what makes her so much fun. Janina Gavankar said the writers are making her an enigma for a good reason.

“You just don’t know what she’s going to do,” she said. And that’s what will make Ren’s upcoming run-ins so unpredictable, dramatic, and entertaining.

Ren “has one overall goal.” She wants to find her guns and money—and there isn’t much she won’t do to make it happen. Her cunning nature will make for an interesting hunt. And as everything plays out, we’ll see that there is a bigger picture.

“But there is a super-objective here,” she continued. “As time goes on in this season, you’re going to see that super-objective.”

‘Big Sky’ Star Janina Gavankar Wants You to Know Ren Isn’t as Evil as She Seems

Ren is turning out to be a major villain on Big Sky. But Janina Gavankar promises that the character isn’t all that bad.

During an interview with TV Line, Janina Gavankar admitted that her Big Sky character, Ren, “seems like an evil, evil lady.” But she assures us that Ren isn’t there to just “kill a bunch of people.” She’s there to “work smarter than her family.”

“She’s there trying to prove that you don’t have to kill a bunch of people to get the job done,” Gavankar shared. “So even though, ironically, everybody’s looking at her like she’s some bad lady, she’s actually there to be sweet.”
