For many, Thanksgiving is a time to eat so much you need to bring out your elastic pants. For some, however, their stomachs are growling with hunger. That’s why Blake Shelton, Drew Barrymore, John Legend, Tyra Banks, Josh Groban, and many more are teaming up to raise money for the ‘Great American Foodathon.’
The stars will be performing and making celebrity appearances during the special.
‘Great American Foodathon’
Due to the pandemic, many Americans will struggle to put food on the table this Thanksgiving. We can help change that, however, by donating to the ‘Great American Foodathon’.
All donations will be matched by Citi Bank, up to $500,000. Donations will support the charities of No Kid Hungry and City Harvest, which both help provide meals to families throughout the country.
Last year, City Harvest helped feed more than 2.5 millions hungry New Yorkers.
No Kid Hungry is an initiative that aims at ending childhood hungry which affects nearly one in four children in the United States.
People who would like to donate can visit Nokidhungry.org and can give either $35, $50, $100, or $250 to the cause.
The money raised will go toward free meal sites, attain and deliver fresh produce and healthy food to families that struggle with hunger, and help ensure that children get the nutrients they need.
Where and When
Fox and Fox affiliates will broadcast the event on Wednesday, November 25, at 7 p.m. EST. The ‘Great American Foodathon’ will be hosted by Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, who is also a City Harvest board member as well as the chair of its food council.
“This has been a challenging year for many Americans,” said Zakarian. “On the eve of Thanksgiving, let’s raise a lot of money to help feed the many families across our country that are struggling to put a meal on the table right now for their children. There will be laughs, maybe some tears, and a lot of Thanksgiving cooking tips along the way.”
