Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani File for Marriage License, Reportedly May Marry this Weekend

by John Jamison

Singers Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, who got engaged in October after five years of dating and judging “The Voice” together, are finally ready to tie the knot.

According to the Johnston County Court Clerk of Oklahoma, the couple filed for a marriage license this week. And based on Oklahoma state law, that means Blake and Gwen have little more than a week to go through with it. What better way to celebrate independence over the 4th of July than by getting hitched?

Per TMZ, the ceremony will be held at Blake Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma over the weekend. The news appears to confirm what has long been rumored by fans and friends alike. They all knew the marriage was imminent, but no one was sure exactly when it would happen.

A few weeks ago, fans thought the couple had already said their vows after spotting what appeared to be a new ring on Gwen Stefani’s finger. Earlier in June, Blake Shelton assured fans that the wedding hadn’t taken place yet. But that Gwen was hard at work getting it ready.

“I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it’s going to be great. She’s in the middle of planning the thing, and she’s always so mindful… of me,” Blake Shelton said. “She’s like, ‘Hey, I don’t want to just take this thing over.’ I think she’s having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she’s having a blast doing it.”

Blake Shelton is in awe of his fiancé’s talent. And he doesn’t hesitate to let her know, or the media, for that matter. Since they’ve been together, the couple has recorded four duets. And whenever they can, they love driving their concert audiences wild by performing them together on stage.

“There’s been times where she comes out on stage, we’ll have a plan if she’s at one of my concerts and we always try to keep it on the down low, and then we’ll start ‘Nobody But You’ or ‘Go Ahead And Break My Heart,’ Blake Shelton told Zane Lowe in a recent interview. “And here I am dying from the time I stand on stage, walk out on stage until that moment hits, because I know on that set list people are going to s— in their seats when Gwen Stefani walks out here. It’s like I’m a kid on Christmas morning. And so that’s what it’s like for me working with her. It’s just exciting, it really is.”

Listening to Blake Shelton talk about Gwen Stefani, it’s a wonder the two didn’t get married sooner.

A big congratulations to the happy couple.
