As a coach on the popular talent show “The Voice,” country music superstar Blake Shelton lets his competitive side show. The singer jokingly says the show must be “rigged” after his future wife picked up her first victory on the show.
Shelton’s fiancé, Gwen Stefani, was the big winner among the coaches this season with her star pupil taking the win. On the show’s 19th season finale earlier this week, Carter Rubin took home the trophy for Team Stefani. Naturally, the former No Doubt lead singer was proud of the win both for Rubin and for herself. This season marked the first time Team Gwen won the competition.
“@careterjrubin, I hope you are soaking up every bit of this moment,” she writes in the post. “I am so proud of you and so proud to have been your coach.”
Knowing her future husband’s competitive streak, Stefani decided to rub the victory in Blake Shelton’s face just a little. As the couple left the studio, Stefani had a brief message for Blake after her victory.
“I just beat Blake Shelton at The Voice,” she says in a short video posted to Instagram. Stefani goes on to mention how grateful she is for Rubin’s singing talents netting her a win.

Pretending to be upset, Blake Shelton says the show must have been rigged in Stefani’s favor. The couple shares a laugh afterwards and Shelton would later take to social media to congratulate his bride-to-be and Rubin.
“Congrats on the win @gwenstefani,” he says in the tweet. “I’ll let this one slide! @carterjrubin…if anyone beat #teamblake, I am glad it is you!”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will wed sometime in 2021 at Shelton’s Oklahoma Ranch.
