Blue Bloods star Abigail Hawk is teasing the new Blue Bloods episode at the urging of her “embarrassed” costar, Robert Clohessy, who plays Sidney Gormley, or Sid, on the show.

In a Thursday Instagram post, Hawk shared a picture of herself and Clohessy standing with their arms around each other, along with a screenshot of a message, presumably from Clohessy, telling her to put the picture on Instagram.

“Tomorrow is a special Sid episode!” Hawk dutifully captioned the photo.

Sid Returns to Blue Bloods After a Leave of Absence

Earlier this year on Blue Bloods, things got tense between Sid and NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). Sid was mourning the death of his ex-partner, but he wasn’t handling it too well. First Sid accidentally cut his thumb with a butcher knife and stubbornly refused to leave work. Then he accused Frank of ordering a police officer to follow him and pull him over, which Frank denied.

The two got into a fight, and Frank asked Sid to take the day off. But then Sid stopped responding to calls and texts. Audiences later found out that Sid would be gone from the office for more than a day, per Distractify.

Sid never did make that appointment with the therapist that Frank had tried to push on him. And Blue Bloods fans were left in the dark about when or whether the character would ever return. Now it looks like Sid is back, for at least one episode. Will he be a more stable presence this time around?

Clohessy’s Sons Have Both Appeared on the Show

Clohessy and his wife, Catherine Erhardt, met in a pretty cute way. Main Street Magazine reports that back in the day, after he’d landed a recurring role on Hill Street Blues, Clohessy had to find a place to stay in Los Angeles. It just so happened that his agent was representing someone who wanted to move back East and needed a renter for her apartment. She was an actress herself.

Within months, Clohessy and Erhardt were married. They stayed in Los Angeles together until Erhardt, on a whim, bought a house back East while on a skiing vacation. So it was that they raised their two sons back in Connecticut, far from the klieg lights of Hollywood.

But the family business called to Myles and Byron, according to The List. And as it turns out, both of them have now appeared on Blue Bloods along with their father. Those apples didn’t fall far from the tree.
