‘Blue Bloods’ Beats Out Majority of Television in Friday Ratings Despite Airing Rerun

The most recent season of “Blue Bloods” may have recently come to an end, but that did not stop fans from tuning in to watch a rerun of the show on Friday, May 21.

According to TVLine.com, the family cop drama starring Tom Selleck ranked as one of the most viewed shows during that evening. There were 3.31 million viewers who tuned in for that “Blue Bloods” rerun on CBS.

This number didn’t put the show at the very top of the list. But, it’s still a good sign for the drama that a rerun after the season finale aired performed so well. It was the season finale of “Shark Tank” on ABC that edged out Selleck’s show for most viewers. There were reportedly 3.4 million viewers who tuned in to watch “Shark Tank.”

Television Ratings for ‘Blue Bloods’ Increased With Its Recent Season Finale

The 11th season of “Blue Bloods” came to an end on Friday, May 14. The two-hour episode was titled “Justifies the Means,” according to IMDb.com. It’s an episode that follows the Reagan family as they try to protect Joe Hill from being killed. Hill is working with the ATF.

In fact, the 11th season finale was more of a television event than just a normal episode of television. There was drama and there was intrigue. One factor that helped the finale be the success it was is that Tom Selleck and his fellow cast members really got out there and promoted the show.

These efforts by the cast of “Blue Bloods” paid off. There were 6.5 million viewers who tuned in to watch the Reagans do all they could to protect Joe Hill. As fans of the show will know, Hill is the grandson of Tom Selleck’s character. That character is Commissioner Frank Reagan.

Even though “Blue Bloods” won’t be airing new episodes soon, fans shouldn’t worry. The popular show has been renewed for another season. So, viewers will get a chance to follow the drama surrounding the Reagan family for at least one more year. This 12th season is scheduled to start airing during 2021. It will conclude the following year.

In addition to Tom Selleck, the cast of “Blue Bloods” includes Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Jamie Reagan, and Len Cariou as Henry Reagan. The show follows the Reagans, a family made up of New York City police officers.
