by Samantha Whidden

Bridget Moynahan may play a New Yorker for the hit CBS series Blue Bloods, but she definitely stands by her Boston roots.

In a 2010 interview with Boston Magazine, Bridget Moynahan explains how she, and fellow Boston native/co-star, Donnie Wahlberg, really feel about playing New Yorkers.

“I think Boston and New York have some similarities, especially in the types of people that come from those cities and their pride and strength.” She addresses that she knows she’s not supposed to relate to New Yorkers.

“Donnie’s very adamant about not wearing New York baseball caps on the show. He’s a true Boston sports fan. He’ll throw down.”

Bridget Moynahan Talks Working With Tom Selleck on ‘Blue Bloods’

Also in the interview with Boston Magazine, Bridget Moynahan discusses what it’s like to work with Tom Selleck, who plays her father in Blue Bloods.

“He commands that paternal respect straight off the bat, so it’s been an easy relationship to fall into. You know, he’s an old-school gentleman, and it’s a pleasure to run into those every once in a while.”

Bridget Moynahan also comments on Tom’s famous mustache.

“Everybody’s so obsessed with! Honestly, I don’t know why, other than he’s probably the one person who can still pull it off.”

‘Blue Bloods Get Renewed For 12th Season

Since 2010, Bridget Moynahan has been on Blue Bloods as Erin Reagan, who is the sister of Donnie’s character, Danny Reagan. Tom Selleck plays the role of Frank Reagan, who is the police commissioner. The show notably follows the Reagan family, which has a history with the NYPD. Erin is an Assistant District Attorney.

Blue Bloods now has 11 seasons. The show was renewed by its network CBS in April 2021 for its 12th season. Other castmates of the series are Will Estes, Len Cariou, Abigail Hawk, and Marisa Ramirez. In 2020, Selleck stated to People that he doesn’t see the hit series ending anytime soon.

“I don’t think there is an end point. I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older. There is an evolution. It started out as a character-driven show and it’s even more than that now.”

Selleck confirms that he is close with his Blue Blood co-stars.

“Our dinner party scenes are like a reunion of friends. Sometimes it’s hard for the directors to get us to concentrate. We do the work, and we do it well, but we’re also screwing around and kidding each other and catching up. What we have is truly a blessing.”

CBS has yet to announce the premiere date for Blue Bloods’12th season. If the network decides to follow the same pattern as the previous seasons (minus 11th season, which was delayed due to COVID-19), the newest season will premiere in the fall.
