‘Blue Bloods’: Could Jimmy Buffett Reprise a ‘Hawaii Five-0’ Character for Guest Appearance?

Excuse us for thinking he was wastin’ away again in Margaritaville. Jimmy Buffett was hard at work recently. He’s set to appear on an upcoming episode of Blue Bloods. But the question remains—who will his character be?

Anyone who’s spent a Friday night or two tuning into CBS’s programming will have no problem recognizing the beach-bound crooner from his role of Frank Bama on the most recent iteration of Hawaii Five-O. Would Blue Bloods ask him to reprise the helicopter pilot character?

Based on setting alone, it seems more likely that Buffett’s Frank Bama would pop on the Magnum P.I. reboot. It’s also a relatively new CBS offering. If something like that is in the works, perhaps the Tom Selleck Blue Bloods/Magnum connection could make Bama a three-series character.

Also possible is a self-portrayal. Buffett has been pretty active as an actor over the years, though he hasn’t appeared as himself very often. Nevertheless, shows and movies have made use of his persona. Look no further than his brief cameo in Jurrasic World as a park visitor fleeing dinosaurs with margaritas in hand.

A recent Instagram post from Danny Reagan actor Donnie Wahlberg could offer a hint. The two took a selfie at Rockaway Beach, and while Queens is a bit further north than we’re accustomed to seeing Jimmy, the singer is clearly in his element.

“Looks Rockaway Beach, but it feels like Margaritaville! Having a great time shooting a fun new episode of [Blue Bloods] with the legend Jimmy Buffet!” Wahlberg wrote in the post’s caption.

Fans can expect the Season 12 episode featuring Buffett to air sometime in early 2022. And no matter who the “Margaritaville” singer plays, rest assured the beach is going to factor in somehow.

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Steve Schirripa Didn’t Watch the Show Before Becoming Part of It

For all we know, Jimmy Buffett is a massive Blue Bloods fan. But one fan-favorite character who has been on the show since 2015 wasn’t very familiar with it before he made his first appearance.

Steve Schirripa rose to fame on what some consider the greatest TV show of all time—The Sopranos. The guy knows what it takes to make quality programming. But he wasn’t sure what the show entailed after being cast as Anthony Abetemarco on Blue Bloods. Fortunately, it got his seal of approval.

“I didn’t watch the show much before I was on it, and then I did a whole binge-watch so that I could get caught up, and it’s just great. The crew is great, and I have to tell you that it’s very well done, which is why they are in their sixth season and still have the highest ratings on Friday nights,” Schirripa told Talk Nerdy With Us back in 2016.
