‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Invites Fans to Join Him in Virtual Dance Party Fundraiser

“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg is joining with Tuffy Questell to raise money for a good cause.

The actor and musician on Thursday tweeted a message to his fans about a funk-a-thon fundraiser benefiting Healing Vine Harbor. The Charlotte nonprofit helps homeless and at-risk women aged 18 and older with independent living skills.

“I’ll be watching & partying with my big bro @Tuffybxnyc tonight!” Wahlberg tweeted. “I hope that you all will join us by dancing in your own homes with friends and family as Healing Vine Harbor goes live from 7pm-9pm. Please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2nd-annual-virtual-purple-funk-a-thon-registration-160834001829.”

Wahlberg Supports Numerous Charities

The “Blue Bloods” star has given to multiple charities besides Healing Vine Harbor. Among them are Habitat for Humanity, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, KaBOOM! and the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

In 2019, Wahlberg helped out Toys for Tots by autographing a Swagcycle Pro, an electric scooter made by Swagtron, as part of the Giving Is Swag holiday charity drive. Fans could enter a giveaway for a chance to win the autographed scooter. They could also get a discount on Swagtron purchases and have Swagtron donate 5 percent off the purchase price to Toys for Tots.

And in 2017, the “Blue Bloods” star helped raise $759,000 to benefit kids with autism. With wife Jenny McCarthy’s help, Wahlberg beat his previous year’s total raised toward funding autism treatment for low-income and at-risk families. And the couple also announced the groundbreaking of an integrative health clinic for special needs individuals in St. Charles, where they live.

“There’s no greater unity than spreading love for a good cause,” McCarthy said at the time.

‘Blue Bloods’ Is Back for Season 12

Meanwhile, Wahlberg has been busy juggling his charitable endeavors, his New Kids on the Block performances and his return to “Blue Bloods” for Season 12. Filming has already begun on the new season, and that has at times required some creative maneuvering on Wahlberg’s part.

For instance, on his birthday, Wahlberg had to be on the set of “Blue Bloods.” But he also had to tend to his social media presence. So while he was composing tweets, he sent a production assistant to fill in for him as the cast rehearsed a scene.

“When you’re busy tweeting on your bday, while shooting @BlueBloods_CBS, so they have a P.A. play your role in a scene in your place,” Wahlberg later tweeted, including a hilarious video of the scene. “Great work Sharkey. Guess we’ll be watching you Friday nights this fall.”

Never fear, Danny Reagan fans: Wahlberg will be back on “Blue Bloods,” which airs on CBS, starting Oct. 1.
