While chatting with Us Weekly in 2019, Jenny McCarthy shares how she and the Blue Bloods actor perform the sweet ceremony yearly. “People go, ‘Why?’ And we go, ‘Why not?’ Because it’s just something we always want,” Jenny explains. She also says that Donnie surprised her in 2019 by having their original minister perform the renewal. “And it’s so nice to take a moment when you’re so busy to remember those words that you say to each other and the vows and the promises.”
Jenny McCarthy and the Blue Bloods castmate began dating in 2013 after meeting on Watch What Happens Next. The couple announced their engagement that following spring and were married in August 2014. Jenny describes the renewal ceremony as being “heartwarming” and says, “Every day I wake up and go, ‘I married my Prince Charming’”
She also says that the couple’s wedding was years ago but more like two weeks. “It’s weird because we have that new love feeling.”
Jenny McCarthy Talks Marriage With ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg
During a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Jenny McCarthy discusses the ups and downs of her marriage to Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg. “It’s not like we never have problems, but we know if [we do], it’s an opportunity to look inside and say, ‘Does this remind me of something from my parent that I need to work on?’” McCarthy explains.
Jenny then says she and the Blue Bloods castmate are able to love each other while not putting expectations on one another to make each other happy. “And that’s a big one when it comes to relationships.”
Donnie also comments about their relationship by stating, “I think we both learned in our first marriages that we were young and had aspirations and all these different things going on [which didn’t always make] the relationship come first. Now, [the relationship] comes before everything.”
The Blue Bloods act goes on to say that Jenny didn’t just say that she was going to do The Masked Singer LA. The couple talked through the process and what it was going to be like for their relationship while she was gone. “I made sure I could be around to stay with the kids before we would commit,” Donnie says.
Wahlberg then adds that the reason he and Jenny are “couples goals” is because they have goals – to grow individually and collectively. “And the way we can grow as a couple is to grow as individuals,” he states. “If one of us is struggling with insecurity or something, we count on each other to do the work to grow through that. And hold a light each other to get through things as a team.”
