Couples who work together always face the struggle of separating it from their personal lives. Fictional couples are no different and it appears Jamie and Eddie from Blue Bloods are experiencing it firsthand.
CarterMatt provided the synopsis for the next Blue Bloods episode. According to it, there are quite a few problems, especially with Eddie and Jamie. “The boundary between Eddie and Jamie’s work and personal relationship is strained when Eddie and her new partner, Badillo (Ian Quinlan), ask Jamie to reassign them to different partners,” the synopsis ominously reads.
Being her husband, Jamie can naturally see the strain of her professional life firsthand. However, it seems as if he’ll have trouble juggling whether to assign Badillo and Eddie new partners. This won’t be the first time the two have clashed because of work and likely won’t be the last.
Though the two obviously have chemistry and many are rooting for them, their relationship requires effort. Not acting on their feelings for five years, one could argue the real work finally began for them a few years ago.
It doesn’t appear this will split the two, but one can’t help but wonder if they will have to veer further apart in a professional setting.
‘Blue Bloods’ Star Vanessa Ray Explains Eddie and Jamie’s Relationship is Hard to Maintain
Eddie and Jamie on Blue Bloods kept their feelings hidden from one another for five years on the show. The two seemed made for each other and their ending up together seemed like a match made in heaven. Nonetheless, Vanessa Ray, the actress who plays Eddie, said their relationship isn’t nearly as easy to maintain as one might think.
Speaking to Long Island Weekly a few years ago Ray talked about coming into the Reagan family. Specifically, she addressed how Eddie and Jamie’s relationship has evolved over the years. The two may mesh well together, but officially becoming an item was much harder than they anticipated.
“I think it’s really complicated, with myself included, as a fan of this couple,” Ray told the outlet. “There’s a lot of learning curves and [a] lot of figuring out what their relationship looks like. I think it’s more of a struggle than they were anticipating. That’s something that I read a lot when I get the scripts and say, ‘Oh man, this is hard for them.’ It’s a lot harder for them than I think we all thought.”
Continuing, Ray talked about the fact they loved each other for years. Now that they’re together, the fun begins, but it’s also where things can get difficult. According to her, “it’s sort of where the real work has begun for them in terms of their relationship instead of their actual work and family unit.”
