Who likes podcasts? We do. We even have a few for you to check out. You know who doesn’t like podcasts? Blue Bloods’ Deputy Commissioner Garrett Moore (Gregory Jbara). In Friday’s fast-approaching new episode, he tries his best to prevent Frank Reagan from going on one.
With the upcoming Season 12 installment “Reality Check” around the corner, CBS has dropped several new promotional photos for us. And a few of them find Commissioner Frank Reagan at his desk duking it out with his right-hand man. Why? Because Tom Selleck’s character is seriously considering making a podcast appearance.
Podcasts are an excellent medium for entertainment, and many even use them as a news source. But in today’s day and age, the NYPD Commissioner going on one to field questions is rife with risk. That’s one of the dilemmas fans can expect to see in the upcoming episode of Blue Bloods. Garrett is strongly against Frank going through with it because the only result is a scandal from where he’s sitting.
Hosts will sometimes take opportunities to trip up people in positions of power. It generates publicity for their program and can further an agenda. Frank Reagan might be confident he won’t say the wrong things. But Garrett seems to think he’s underestimating the newer medium’s potential.
After all, now doesn’t seem like an ideal time for Frank to put himself out there. Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is finally giving serious thought to running for District Attorney. The optics of a father and daughter as Police Commissioner and DA of the same city are bad enough. Having to do it with any bad publicity on Frank would be a death sentence for her campaign.
What Can ‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Expect from the Episode?
So we know Garrett Moore thinks Frank Reagan is walking into a trap. Tom Selleck’s Blue Bloods character doesn’t think much of it all, shrugging and saying, “It’s just a podcast.” But what are our other favorite Reagan family members up to?
Well, according to the “Reality Check” synopsis, the eighth episode of Season 12 will find Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) joining forces with a colleague of Erin’s, Anthony Abetemarco. Apparently, New York is a small place. By that, we mean Anthony’s cousin will prove helpful Danny Reagan’s investigation into a mob-related crime.
Elsewhere, Jamko is still trying to work through some marital issues. Jamie and Eddie are still trying to find the proper balance between their professional and personal lives. It’s no easy feat, especially considering all the tension we’ve seen in recent weeks. Eddie’s ex-con father came to visit, and Jamie’s suggestion for Eddie’s new partner didn’t work out very well.
The new episode premieres Friday night on CBS at 10 p.m. ET.
