Tom Selleck is an old-school guy. As such, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that he’d offer his “Blue Bloods” co-star Abigail Hawk his police commissioner jacket when she got cold on set. Of course, being a gentleman in that way is something that hopefully never goes out of style.
As Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on “Blue Bloods,” Tom Selleck is one of the most senior actors on set. The character aside, his iconic television and movie career speaks for itself. For the younger actors, working with Tom Selleck has to be a dream come true. So one can imagine that sharing a scene with him is would be exciting enough. But how about walking around the set wearing his jacket?
“Baker for PC!” Hawk wrote in the Instagram caption. “(Kidding, it was cold on set and Tom is the epitome of a gentleman!)”
Hawk and Selleck have been working together on “Blue Bloods” since the show started in 2010. Not only that but Hawk’s Abigail Baker character works directly under Selleck’s Frank Reagan on the show. As a result, the two spend a lot of time together when the show is filming.
Tom Selleck is Well-Like Among Hawk and the Other ‘Blue Bloods’ Cast Members
Some of the best moments on the show are those little glimpses into Hawk’s character through the door of Frank Reagan’s office. Hawk is always quick with an appropriate look or deliberate when asked to close the door behind her. The two share a unique bond in the reality of “Blue Bloods” and that of the real world. In fact, Hawk once told Hamptons that Tom Selleck did something far more significant than letting her borrow a jacket.
“It’s been a wonderful, wonderful time. And also, I went into labor with my second son the day that we were supposed to shoot. Tom Selleck literally rewrote a scene around the delivery of my son, which is a pretty awesome legacy,” Hawk said in 2019.
It certainly is a pretty awesome legacy. And beyond Hawk’s stories, Tom Selleck’s on-screen family has similarly great things to say about the “Magnum P.I.” icon.
Perhaps the closest relationship Tom Selleck shares with another cast member is with Donnie Wahlberg. The pair have apparently blurred the line between being father and son on the show and in real life.
“I call him son. Every time I see him, I go ‘Hello, son.’ He goes, ‘Hello, dad,'” Selleck told Entertainment Weekly.
That’s quite the position to be in with someone as respected as Tom Selleck. It wouldn’t be surprising whatsoever if he referred to Abigail Hawk as his daughter.
