You’d best believe that Alma Wahlberg, the late mother of Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg, never missed an episode of the show. In fact, Alma never missed anything that one of her kids was in.

There is no doubt that Donnie Wahlberg is a man of many talents. He is the eighth of 12 siblings, a singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, record, and film producer. Many fans still recognize him as one of the founding members of the boy band New Kids on the Block.

But he has also made appearances in big-time movies like the Saw movies, Zookeeper, Dreamcatcher, The Sixth Sense, Righteous Kill, Ransom, and Band of Brothers. Wahlberg also produced and starred in his own show — Wahlburgers on A&E TV.

But since 2014, Donnie Wahlberg has starred in the drama series Blue Bloods as detective Danny Reagan. And he told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in 2019 that his mom had never missed a single episode. But prior to that, Cobert had to compliment Wahlberg on his fresh suit while walking onto the set.

“You know, I dress up for you, Stephen,” Wahlberg says with a smile. “I feel like I have to bring my A-Game. My mom’s watching. She’s like, ‘Comb ya hair!'”

“Does she still watch everything you do?” Colbert asks. Wahlberg simply responds, “She does.”

Alma Wahlberg couldn’t always stay up late to catch her son’s latest episodes when they first aired. So she had to resort to recording them and watching them later.

“She’s discovered DVR,” Wahlberg explained. “So sometimes [she watches it] a couple of days later. Sometimes I’ll call her in the morning and I’ll say, ‘Hey, did you watch ‘Blue Bloods?” And she’ll go, ‘I did, I did.’ And I’m like, ‘You didn’t, did you?’ And she says, ‘No, I’ll watch it later.’ But she eventually watches it.”

It was just last month that Alma Wahlberg passed away after a long battle with dementia. She was 78 years old at the time of her death. It was Donnie Wahlberg that confirmed his mother had passed in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by, and set on my life’s path by such an amazing woman,” Wahlberg wrote. “My mom, Alma’s joy for life, love, and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am. It’s time to rest peacefully, mom. I love you, miss you, thank you, and will celebrate you today and always. Forever — your Baby Donnie.”
