‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Makes Exciting New Announcement About Boy Band New Kids on the Block

by Matthew Wilson

Forget the Backstreet Boys. New Kids on the Block is back. At least, their merchandise is and “Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg can’t be more excited.

Wahlberg celebrate a new line of New Kids on the Block merchandise on social media. A photo featured Wahlberg with his faithful companion Lumpy testing out the new bed sheets. The new design found inspiration from similar bedsheets in the 1990s. Many fans, especially teenage girls, decorated their rooms in New Kids on the Block merch in the 1990s.

Now, the New Kids on the Block is selling 1990s-inspired blankets, portraits, autographs, and coffee mugs.

While he may entertain audiences on “Blue Bloods” these days, Donnie Wahlberg got his start with the boy band. He was the frontman of the band during their heyday. And in recent years, New Kids on the Block reunite to tour and produce new music. The band consists of Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and Joey McIntyre.

In a recent interview with People, Wood discussed why they produced the new merchandise.

“The line is really inspired by the fans,” Wood told People. “Over the years, we’ve watched as they’ve taken those old bedsheets they had as kids and made them into dresses and jackets. During the pandemic, one girl even turned those sheets into face masks and donated all the money from the sales to my foundation, which helps breast cancer patients. The guys and I have always leaned into the nostalgia of the New Kids so we said, ‘Let’s embrace this and do our own products with that nostalgic feel.'”

New Kids on the Block’s New Merchandise

As the saying goes, what’s old is new again. And New Kids on the Block has all that merchandise that will make you nostalgic for the 1990s again. For instance, they plan to sell throw blankets for $50. Or you could get a pretty rad coffee mug or pint glass for $15. If you’re the chef of the house, why not get a New Kids on the Block apron for $40.

And while New Kids on the Block may stay the same, they know times have changed. Get a New Kids on the Block face mask for $15. Woods has even shared some of that swag with his grandchildren as well.

“I gave my granddaughter the blanket, and I have pictures of her all wrapped up in it,” Wood told the outlet. “I think our fans – and their kids and the baby Blockheads, too – are going to love it, at least that’s what I’m hoping.”

Wood confessed that the band hated all the merchandise they sold back in the 1990s, such as the bedsheets. But over the years, they realized how much their music has touched other people’s lives and the role it played in people’s formative years.
