“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg marked the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with a very emotional social media message. In it, he offered up a prayer for those whose lives changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001.

He opens his prayer with words dedicated to the thousands who perished in the attack. Nearly 3,000 died. “Lord, please bless the souls that were lost, on this day, 20 years ago,” Wahlberg shared.

The “Blue Bloods” star then asked for comfort for those who lost someone close to them on 9/11. “Bless their families, their friends, their co-workers and all whom they left behind,” his prayer also asked.

Next, Donnie Wahlberg prayed for those who risk their lives to keep others safe. “Bless the many courageous first responders, and their families, for their valiant and selfless sacrifice,” the 52-year-old actor shared.

In closing, the “Blue Bloods” star also prayed that those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, are never forgotten. He also expressed a desire to see his fellow Americans unite once again. “Help us to remember all of them with love and respect, and help all of us to remember the love and respect that we had for each other — in the wake of this most difficult of days. Amen,” Wahlberg shared.

Along with the prayer, the “Blue Bloods” star shared a very poignant photo. It is of the New York City skyline. The famous Brooklyn Bridge is in the foreground. Visible behind that famous landmark shines two beams of light into the sky over Manhattan. They, of course, mark the location of the World Trade Centers Twin Towers that were destroyed during the terrorist attack. You can check it out below.

Another ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Also Shared a Post Remembering 9/11

Donnie Wahlberg wasn’t the only “Blue Bloods” star who commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on America. His costar, Bridget Moynahan, also shared a photo of New York City on Instagram.

The image she shared also shows the beams of light that symbolize the Twin Towers. Her image shows a different angle of the Manhattan skyline than the one shared by Wahlberg. However, it is still a very powerful image. Moynahan chose to keep the message she shared with the photo brief. This, too, is powerful. “20 years #neverforget,” she shared.

Moynahan plays Erin Reagan, an assistant district attorney for New York City, in “Blue Bloods.” Erin is the sister of Donnie Wahlberg’s character, Danny Reagan. Danny is a detective for the New York City Police Department.

Wahlberg and Moynahan joined their costar, Tom Selleck, in commemorating the 20th anniversary of 9/11. He did so by narrating a documentary about the attacks. It is titled, “26th Street Garage: The FBI’s Untold Story of 9/11.” Selleck plays Frank Reagan. The NYPD Commissioner and father of Erin and Danny in the popular CBS drama.
