‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Praises Fan for ‘Very Thoughtful Post’ Dedicated to Him

“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg has responded to a fan who posted a tribute to her deceased friend on Twitter with a sensitive message.

On Monday, a fan tweeted the following message to Wahlberg, alongside a photo of a friend of hers: “Not one of my selfies with you @DonnieWahlberg but she’d want this shared. My feed has been flooded w/pics of us together & the last time I’d see her smiling face would be at this exact time 2 years ago at your last show in Toronto #selfieswithdonnie #RIPVee you are so missed.”

Wahlberg had started a #SelfiesWithDonnie thread on Twitter in honor of National Selfie Day. So the fan shared a selfie that her friend had taken with Wahlberg.

“#RIPVee miss you!,” Wahlberg replied. “Very thoughtful post. Thanks.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Recently Fooled His Wife on ‘The Masked Singer’

Meanwhile, Wahlberg recently appeared on “The Masked Singer” dressed as a giant rooster named Cluedle-Doo. His wife, actress Jenny McCarthy, is one of the panelists on the show. After Wahlberg performed in costume, she guessed that the performer sounded like Akon.

But as it turned out, Cluedle-Doo was her own husband. How did she not recognize his voice?

Wahlberg and McCarthy explained to Entertainment Tonight that Wahlberg took steps to cover his tracks. He got McCarthy to think that he was on the set of “Blue Bloods” when he was actually on the set of “The Masked Singer.” Plus, Wahlberg sang differently and danced differently when he was in costume than he normally would.

“l couldn’t really move the way I like to move typically, on stage,” Wahlberg said. “Like, I did a little butt wiggle and got my hips going and stuff. But I had a little slight tear in my calf muscle from wearing those talons on my feet and trying to dance.”

“I also had a big tail that weighed about 10 pounds and a rooster head that weighed about another 25 pounds,” he added. “So I don’t think my moves were as precise and quite the moves that she would recognize.”

Wahlberg Sang Mark Morrison Song as Cluedle-Doo

For his “Masked Singer” performance, Wahlberg chose to perform Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack.” He said he was trying to sound like Morrison. But he was flattered by McCarthy’s suggestion that he might have been Akon.

“I’ve worked with Akon. I am a huge fan of Akon’s. So it was the greatest compliment I could get,” Wahlberg said. “One of the reasons I chose ‘Return of the Mack’ for the song is that I know that I could disguise my voice a little bit. And, you know, I spoke to Mark Morrison who recorded the song in the first place, and got his blessing and I said, ‘I’m just going to try to sound as much like you as I can.'”

Moreover, Wahlberg is gearing up for another performance – this time as himself. His band New Kids on the Block is playing Fenway Park this August, and Wahlberg’s fans can’t wait.
