‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Wishes Son Elijah a Happy 20th Birthday: ‘Time Flies’

by Joe Rutland

Donnie Wahlberg took time out of his “Blue Bloods” shooting schedule on Friday to wish his son Elijah a happy birthday.

Elijah Wahlberg turned 20 years old on Friday. His dad, who plays Detective Danny Reagan on the CBS police drama, took to Instagram and sent this out to his son.

He wrote, “Happy 20th Birthday to my son Elijah Wahlberg aka @lijah_wahlberg aka @pinklacesmusic — and I cannot even believe that I’m actually writing those words!

“20?!?!?! Time flies,” Donnie Wahlberg of “Blue Bloods” continued. “So proud of you son and of the man you are becoming. Kind. Cool. Respectful. Independent. Talented. Humble. And one of the best sets of ears, when it comes to music, that I’ve ever known. Love you always. Dad. 🙏🏼❤️ #HappyBirthdayElijah”.

Elijah Wahlberg is one of two sons from his first marriage to Kimberley Fey. His other son, Xavier, is 28 years old.

Much like his father, Elijah has followed the path toward being a musician. Thus the mention in Donnie’s post on Instagram about Pink Laces, where Elijah has teamed up with Ian Bradford to form the band.

Donnie Wahlberg divorced Fey in 2008. He’s married to his second wife, actress Jenny McCarthy.

“Blue Bloods” will return to the CBS lineup on Friday nights this fall. He’s been a part of the show since its first season. Catch new episodes starting on Oct. 1 at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Admits He Was Big Fan Of Film Featuring Tom Selleck

These days, Donnie Wahlberg sees a lot of Tom Selleck. Why? Because both of them are a part of the “Blue Bloods” cast.

Yet there was a period of time where Wahlberg was simply one of many Selleck fans around the world. In fact, he recalled being a fan of one of his movies.

He loves watching Selleck in “Three Men and a Baby.” Selleck played Peter in the 1987 comedy. He’s joined in the movie with Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson.

“I was a huge fan of ‘Three Men and a Baby,’ and my mother was a huge fan of (Magnum, P.I.),” Wahlberg said during a 2010 interview with TV Tango. “She is in heaven right now and every Friday night she is watching this show. I can call her at 4 in the morning. And she will say, ‘Oh my God, I loved it when you made Tom laugh!’ She’s in heaven.”

Selleck plays Wahlberg’s father, NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, on the show. Besides those two, other “Blue Bloods” cast members include Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou, Will Estes, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray. They all will return when the show kicks off its 12th season on CBS.
