“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg is a man of many talents. He’s played Danny Reagan on the hit show for over 10 years, he’s a founding member of the longstanding boy band New Kids on The Block, and apparently, he’s quite the angler.
The “Blue Bloods” actor posted some moments from a fishing outing to his Instagram story recently. And we may have overstated his fishing abilities, as his humble catch couldn’t have been more than a pound. But hey, the important thing is that Donnie’s relaxing, having a good time on the water. He’s a man after every Outsider’s heart.
Besides, he was the first to judge himself for the catch. His first Instagram story post related to the outing featured an artistic shot of the “Blue Bloods” star facing the lake, rod in hand. He wrote “peace.” on the post, and the serene water suggests a peaceful time indeed.
He followed up the picture with a video holding up the fruit of his labor for all to see.
“We’re back,” Wahlberg says in the video. “The lake is back. That’s a beautiful fish.” Beautiful, sure. But it appears that he was less than pleased with its size when it came time to post the video.
“My smile is bigger than the fish.” he wrote over the video. And if that’s not a metaphor for life, we don’t know what is.
It’s not always about having the most or landing the biggest fish out there. The experience itself is often fulfilling enough. And even though the “Blue Bloods” star has been bass fishing as a hobby for years, he just looked excited to be out there in the first place.
The ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Shared A Whole List of Things No One Knew About Him
In 2014, Donnie Wahlberg talked to Us Weekly. They asked him to put together a list of things that people would never guess about him. Among the 25 personal details is his love for bass fishing, but that’s about as normal as the list gets.
For example, the very first entry says, “I sleep less than three hours a night.”
Between “Blue Bloods,” his band, and everything else he has going on in his life, it makes sense that he wouldn’t have time for a square eight hours every night. But three hours? That’s almost concerning.
Further down the list, Donnie took a few shots at his brother Mark and the rest of his brothers with “I am my mother’s favorite son.” Unfortunately, Alma Wahlberg, the family’s matriarch, passed away recently.
The rest of the list is filled out with a series of fun facts, many of them more revealing than a fishing hobby. Some include him putting his socks on first when he gets dressed, fear of large airplanes, and a couple of interesting piercing locations.
