After 12 seasons on CBS, it makes sense that “Blue Bloods” has seen a host of cast members come and go. However, now, one of the hit show’s upcoming brand new episodes promises the return of one long-missing character. Outsiders will be excited to know that former “Blue Bloods” star, Alex Kingston, is returning to the set. After missing for more than five years, she plans to return in the season 12 episode, “Firewall.”

According to the brand new episode’s synopsis, graciously provided to us by CarterMatt, former “Blue Bloods” star Alex Kingston returns to her role as Sloane Thompson to assist her old friend, Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck).

The synopsis states, “Frank enlists the help of an old friend, Sloane Thompson (Alex Kingston), to investigate a cyber attack on the NYPD that forces Danny and Baez to release an evasive suspect.”

Further, the synopsis provides fans a bit of a review regarding Kingston’s returning character. Prior to her hiatus, Thompson previously served as Commander of the City of London Police.

As the media outlet stated, the brand new episode clearly involves several highlight characters. As such, it creates a potentially memorable plot as one of “Blue Bloods” final episodes for the year.

For those anxious to see Reagan’s old friend return, tune into “Blue Bloods” on CBS on Friday, December 10th. As CarterMatt states, the exciting episode most likely concludes as the last brand new addition for 2021. Following then, we’ll have to wait for the spring season to catch all-new episodes of “Blue Bloods.”

Jamie and Eddie May Clash in Upcoming ‘Blue Bloods’ Episode

For now, we prepare for the long-awaited return of Alex Kingston to “Blue Bloods.” Meanwhile, it appears another set of characters faces problems of their own in an upcoming episode.

Kingston’s character Sloane and Selleck’s Frank Reagan work to combat a cyberattack on NYPD. Simultaneously, we’ve learned Jamie and Eddie may, again, see themselves struggling to separate their relationship from work.

To review, “Blue Bloods” fan-favorite Rachel Whitten’s departure saw Eddie saw paired up with a trying new partner, Badillo. Almost immediately, the pairing, which came at the recommendation of none other than Jamie, resulted in the new partners at each others’ throats.

Now, Badillo’s requested that Jamie assign the pair new partners. As both Eddie’s husband and colleague, the episode promises tension as, once again, the show presents the character with difficult and potentially conflicting feelings.

As such, it remains to be seen whether the conflict will come between the two “Blue Bloods” characters as romantic partners. Obviously, it won’t mark the first time work. has interfered with their personal life. Nevertheless, the ensuing drama promises a world of excitement and tension for “Blue Bloods” fans ahead of the new episode.
