“Blue Bloods” star Will Estes definitely would not call himself a fan of social media. It took him a while to join certain platforms.

In a 2017 interview with Taylor Magazine, Estes, who plays Sergeant Jamie Reagan on the CBS crime drama, talks about why he didn’t get into it. By the way, you can find him on Twitter and Instagram.

“I avoided it because I don’t think I knew how to engage media,” Estes says. “I didn’t want to tweet about what I had for breakfast.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Admits He Uses Platforms To Not Become Irrelevant

Estes, who has been a part of “Blue Bloods” since its first season in 2010, talks about not understanding what his voice would be on social media.

“I just sat back and said that I don’t want to advertise myself but the game has really changed,” Estes says. “If you’re not a part of social media platforms, you’re at risk of being irrelevant.”

But he’s quite cautious and careful when it comes to putting things out in the online world.

“In terms of being part of the conversation, I work with someone who looks at my tweets,” Estes says. “I never tweet alone. In that way, it stays more of a profession.”

Estes Has Well Thought-Out Ideas About Twitter, Instagram

The “Blue Bloods” star has definitely put together specific ideas about Twitter and Instagram, though.

“My take on it is that Twitter is for shameless self-promotion and Instagram is where you can convince people that you’re interesting,” Estes says. “But I don’t that that I’m big enough to even attempt to not be part of the conversation.

“Twitter and Instagram are my attempt to keep myself out there and keep myself hireable,” he says.

Estes is getting ready to come back as “Blue Bloods” gears up for its 12th season on CBS. Tom Selleck plays patriarchal figure NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, Jamie’s dad, on the show. Other stars include Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray.

In the same interview, Estes doles out a lot of praise for his costars and the show’s writers.

“We have tremendous writers and as an actor, it’s just fun to be a part of the storytelling and the drama,” he says. “I have a lot of fun with Vanessa Ray who plays my partner on the show. I love every scene I get with Tom, Donnie, and Bridget as well.”

He also notes the amount of talent around him on the “Blue Bloods” set, especially in those famed dinner scenes.

“Len Cariou to my right is such a great actor and film actor,” Estes says of the veteran Broadaway actor who plays Retired NYPD Commissioner Henry Reagan on the show.
