These days, actor Will Estes is one of the stars of the hit CBS family cop drama “Blue Bloods.” His path to fame began in a classic children’s series that aired three decades ago.

Estes, who plays New York City Police officer Jamie Reagan on the popular series, talked about his earlier acting career during a December 2012 interview on the CBS daytime show “The Talk.”

In fact, it was host Sara Gilbert who brought up the future “Blue Bloods” star’s early acting career.

“Your first big role was in ‘The New Lassie’ when you were 10 years old,” Gilbert said as the show displayed a picture of a young Will Estes smiling alongside the dog that played Lassie and one of his costars in the series. “… What do you remember about shooting that?”

In response, Estes first wanted to make sure that viewers didn’t think he was part of the cast of the first “Lassie” series. Then, he shared that being on the show was very memorable for him.

“It wasn’t the original ‘Lassie.’ I want everyone to know that,” Estes joked. “But, yeah, I’m never going to forget that.”

You can watch Will Estes talk about his career and “Blue Bloods” on “The Talk” below. He talks about his role on “The New Lassie” beginning around the two-minute mark of the interview.
