As he was portraying Jamie Reagan, a member of a law enforcement family on “Blue Bloods,” Will Estes was also wielding the gun and badge as a cop in a hit Hollywood film.
Estes has been playing Jamie since 2010 as the show continues on CBS. He stars alongside Tom Selleck, Police Commissioner Frank Reagan who is also the patriarch of the family. Jamie is originally a lawyer, similar to his sister Erin Reagan (played by Bridget Moynahan), before switching to law enforcement. Donnie Wahlberg is also in the show as Detective Danny Reagan.
Estes Role in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Unlike many other TV actors, Estes has proved he isn’t afraid to cross between movies and TV projects. “Blue Bloods” seems to be his home base. However, he’s also had roles in movies like “U-571” and “Line of Duty.”
According to IMDb, Estes played Officer Simon Jansen in “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012. The classic comic book DC film features Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne or Batman. Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman also appear in the movie.
Batman interferes with the city and the police force in order to stop Bane from destroying the city. That’s where Estes’s character comes in handy. He plays only a small role in the film, but with such an A-list cast, any role is significant.
“Yeah, I’ve got a few lines. To be totally clear, they didn’t sit down and break down a whole script for me. And that day, on the day, things got added a little bit. And I’m excited about it. I think frankly between you and me, it’s a part that could get cut out of the film and it would still be a complete movie. But I had a blast working on it. And if Chris Nolan says, ‘Would you be in my movie?’ I got to say yes. I had a great time and I look forward to seeing it,” Estes said of his smaller role, according to ComicBookMovie.com.
While he didn’t have a massive role in the Christopher Nolan flick, Estes continues to appear weekly on “Blue Bloods.” In fact, the series was renewed for a 12th season as well.

During this last season, the duo got to know each other outside of the police force and brought viewers into this experience. It seems like Jamie is moving upward in his career, possibly heading toward that Commissioner role at some point, just like his father.
Eddie has gone undercover a few times during the show as well. There’s a possibility she could be promoted to a detective position in the future of the show.
In terms of the future, family is always a focus on “Blue Bloods.” The episode from March called “For Whom The Bell Tolls” implied that the couple is at least considering possibly having a kid in the future.
In an interview with TV Insider, the showrunner and executive producer Kevin Wade talked about the future for Eddie and Jamie. He said writers “talk about” this possibility of a bigger family.
“I think that would be something that would come out of a combination of our fictional lives and their real lives,” Wade said.
