There is no question about it — Blue Bloods actress Amy Carlson connected on a different level with fans of the show.

The 53-year-old Amy Carlson has been around the block a time or two when it comes to her acting career. By now, she is a well known actress having starred in shows like NBC’s Third Watch and Another World. But she is perhaps she is most famous for her distintive role as Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. However, her character died in a helicopter crash after seven seasons of the show.

As a result, she sat down with Deadline back in 2017 to open up about her departure from the popular series. Of course, she enjoyed her time working alongside stars like Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, and Will Estes. As a matter of fact, her character was the wife of Wahlberg’s character, Danny Reagan. She felt like her role was to spread as much love and positivity to the Reagan family as she could. And the fans of the show loved her for that.

“Well in some ways, I always felt like she was sort of the everyman, every person around the table,” she explained. “I felt like the way I always wanted to play her was — she was a regular person, and as much as all this stuff was swirling around them, I wanted to always ground that family with as much love and heart as I could.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Fans See Some Linda in Danny

Those are the types of qualities that Blue Bloods fans came to love out of Amy Carlson’s character. And Carlson thinks that those hit home for a lot of people that watch the show.

“So, maybe they identified with that because I think everyone hopes to play that role on some level in their own families, and Linda was able to do that a lot of the time.”

Even though Linda Reagan died off after seven seasons of Blue Bloods, we still look back on the relationship she shared with Danny Reagan to this day. And really what more is there to say? The two were perfect together in a lot of ways.

And as she explained during the 2017 interview, a lot of the qualities we now see in Wahlberg’s character are a reflection of her own.

“I think that Linda and Danny’s relationship was really touching and grounding. So a part of who he is is what was reflected in her, and it was a real symbiotic relationship. What I really modeled that relationship on. was from Friday Night Lights, that sort of representative of a real marriage. They didn’t always agree, they didn’t always get along. But no matter what, you knew they could fight, but they still truly loved each other.”
