Brett Young and his wife Morgan couldn’t be more excited to celebrate their 14-month-old daughter’s first Christmas as they deck the halls, play Christmas carols, and place presents beneath the tree adorned with lights and ornaments.
He and his wife will have plenty of photos and videos of their daughter, Paisley, opening her presents. This year she’s more likely to understand something special is taking place on that day.
Young admits last year’s Christmas celebrations were more for him and his wife since Paisley was only a month and a half at that time, having no clue about the holiday. However, the excitement of a new baby’s first Christmas tends to make parents go the extra mile, turning the special event into a large and exciting celebration.
“She was a little too young,” says Brett. “We tried to make it a bigger thing than it was possible to be. She was only, you know, a month and a half old last Christmas, two months exactly, actually. It was fun. I mean, obviously, it was very different.”
“It’s like we’re buying her presents that she doesn’t know she’s getting,” he adds. “So, it was interesting. We tried to force it on her, and she was like, ‘Yeah, whatever. Just feed me.’”
Mom and dad are more than thrilled to watch Paisley’s reaction to her first true Christmas celebration. They can’t wait to spend their second Christmas with a toddler understanding a little of what is going on. However, she will definitely better understand the joy of tearing open the wrapping paper on her presents compared to last year.
“I’ve already gotten to the age now where I still love Christmas, but it’s not even about presents anymore,” he says. “But to have her there, it’s like we’re buying her presents that she doesn’t know she’s getting. So, it was interesting. We tried to force it on her, and she was like, ‘Yeah, whatever. Just feed me.’”
