Bruce Springsteen is getting used to performing for public officials and continues to be in high demand for live shows.
Newly elected president Joe Biden was sworn into the the country’s highest office yesterday, taking an oath to put America first. Once officially put into the Oval Office, it was “party time” for Biden, his family and all of his supporters. Newly minted Vice President Kamala Harris also took to the oath to love and protect the country.
The president’s inauguration was a star-studded event that brought together some of the world’s top artists. Names such as John Legend, Lady Gaga and Foo Fighters put on sizzling performances that any new president would be proud of.
One of the headliners for the inauguration concert was legendary singer and songwriter “The Boss.” Bruce Springsteen, now 71-years-old, got things in gear with “Land of Hope and Dreams” to kick off Wednesday’s Celebrating America concert. Springsteen took his performance in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Before beginning his set, Springsteen says he wants to say a “small prayer” for the country as it battles a deadly pandemic and political unrest. He says our country is the land of hope and dreams before belting out the tune.
“I’m proud to be here in cold Washington, D.C. tonight,” he says with a guitar slung over his shoulder. “This is the Land of Hope and Dreams.”

The Boss typically puts on terrific live performances and Wednesday’s inauguration concert did not disappoint. The “Dancing in the Dark” and “Born to Run” singer put on a great show despite not having a big audience. Most of the concert’s content went virtual in an attempt to thwart the spread of the deadly coronavirus. He wore a black coat with blue jeans and chose one of his more classic guitars for the performance.
While Springsteen had a virtual audience, he faced the large reflecting pool that shadows the Lincoln Memorial. With 400 lights surrounding it, the pool became an honorary tribute in memory of the 400,000 Americans who have lost the battle to the pandemic.
With the recent Capitol riots still on the minds of many, the inauguration concert took on heavy security.
Performing for presidents is nothing new for the Boss. He played for former President Barack Obama’s farewell event in 2017.
