“Full House” and “Fuller House” star and alum, Candace Cameron Bure, is facing major criticism. The popular actress recently shared a controversial TikTok video to her social media accounts. She hopped on a popular trend featuring Lana Del Ray’s song “Jealous Girl.”
In it, Bure lip-syncs along with the lyrics and puts her own more holy twist to the video. However, the majority of followers on her social media accounts completely misinterpreted it. She faced major backlash after she shared the video. Bure later decided to take down the post from her Instagram page and issue an apology.
In an article shared by popculture.com, Bure stated that she was not trying to offend or appear sexy, but imply that she is strong. She tried to symbolize that strength through reference to the power of the Holy Spirit. Bure lip-syncs the lyrics, “Baby, I’m a gangster too, and it takes two to tango/You don’t wanna dance with me, dance with me.” Contrastly, the caption said “When they don’t know the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Where Did She Slip Up?
The intention, after Candace Cameron Bure provides the additional details, is obvious in her video caption. Nevertheless, most followers took the video the wrong way, and the actress decided to issue an apology.
“I usually don’t apologize for these things,” she said, “but a lot of you thought it was weird and I’m sorry.” Bure explained where the inspiration for the post came from. “[I] was using a very specific clip from TikTok and applying it to the power of the holy spirit, which is incredible,” she shared. According to the article, she originally got the idea from her 22-year-old daughter, Natasha Bure.
The younger woman had recently shared a similar video on her own account. The post featured the same song but her caption read, “When he raises his voice at you, but you were raised by a Russian NFL player.” Despite the negative commentary, Bure got from many followers, she acknowledged the minimal audience who correctly interpreted her video and applauded her.
Candance Cameron Bure Reaches 5 Million Followers on Instagram
Prior to her TikTok video mishap, Bure celebrated a social media milestone earlier this week. The 45-year-old actress was excited to announce her latest achievement of reaching 5 million Instagram followers. To her followers’ delight, she shared a fun clip of her dancing to Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5” featuring balloons and a party horn.
Bure capped the video with two gigantic hot pink mylar balloons. One was a giant “5” and the other an “M” to signify her new milestone. She captioned her post writing, “1..2..3..4…5 MILLION FOLLOWERS!!” She followed the exclamation with her signature line, “Oh my lanta,” and further expressed her love and appreciation for her followers and fans, thanking them for joining her along her career.
Despite her lack of success with her more recent TikTok video, followers took much pleasure in watching Bure dance to “Mambo No. 5.” Be sure to check out the video in our previous article here.
