Carrie Underwood is expressing how her perfect Christmas is being with her family and celebrating the reason for the season.
What is the Perfect Christmas for Carrie Underwood?
“My perfect Christmas is generally we do a lot of traveling around Christmas,” says Underwood. “We’ll go see either my family or my husband’s family. I’ll spend all day cooking. I’ll make a small turkey, even though I don’t eat turkey. I’ll make myself some tofurkey; cranberry sauce, of course. Of course, sweet potato casserole. You have to have that. That’s one of my favorites because it’s a side dish and dessert, but I’ll just make a ridiculous amount of food.”
Underwood expresses how a perfect Christmas involves celebrating the day with her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two sons, Isaiah, 5, and Jacob, 1.
“We just celebrate, have a fire, wait for Santa and open our presents, then we’re off to see the next group of family,” says Underwood. “It’s all about watching it through my sons’ eyes and just getting to spend time with family.”
The Importance of Spending Christmas with Family
During the pandemic, Underwood and her family have spent lots of time on their farm located outside of Nashville. This year’s celebrations will be more than likely be spent there instead of traveling to visit family members.
“Our family is in Oklahoma and Canada, but like everyone, we aren’t sure what this year will bring in terms of being able to travel,” she says. “But at least the four of us will be together and that’s what matters most.”
Underwood says she and her family do have a few traditions.
“We always go to church. That’s an important part of our lives year-round, and I feel it’s especially important to remember the reason we celebrate the holidays in the first place,” she says. “We love decorating the house as a family. The boys have their own tree they get to put anything they want on it.”
An aspect of this year’s perfect Christmas involves focusing on the little things much more than in previous years.
“This has been such a challenging year for so many people in so many ways, and I’m just grateful that our family is healthy and happy,” Underwood tells “Good Morning America.”
The health, happiness, and togetherness of her family seem to be the most important parts of Carrie Underwood’s “perfect Christmas.”
