Brett Dalton’s Past Roles
Dalton is a busy guy these days. Before jumping into Chicago Fire, the small-screen star navigated his way through the world of comments. Most folks loved and remembered his time on the hit Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series for four years.
But Dalton is one of those rare actors who has been seen in both Marvel and DC. Is it hard to live and operate in both worlds? Dalton said, “Oh man, there’s a lot there, and you’re right, there’s a lot of similarities and there’s a lot of differences but I think that both teams are very good at storytelling and I was particularly impressed that some hand-drawn cels could make me feel that much because, at the end of the day, this is kind of old-school animation, and I thought it incredibly effective; I was not expecting to feel that much from an animated movie, and I did. And, because of that, I think it can very rightfully be called a film, not just an animated film. It’s a film and they’ve really done a spectacular job.”
Brett Dalton And Superman
Animated movies are becoming more and more interesting as technology continues to rapidly expand and thrive. For instance, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was a big-time hit. It was a great animated movie that drew in folks like Dalton is talking about here. Hollywood has certainly come a long way in this regard.
On Superman, Dalton said, “I think this superhero world and what makes it interesting is that we come for the hero-ness of it but we stay for the human side of it. Of course, we want to see Superman be Superman, but we also want to see him be a man, the human in the superhuman. I think they did that pretty well.” This is an interesting way of viewing these kinds of roles and movies. He wants to see less traditional, more experimentation with superhero roles to learn more about the person. Similar to the Christian Bale movies where he plays Batman. And, on the flip side, The Joker and his story and being more than just an over-the-top figure. There is no right or wrong answer here, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
