‘Chicago Fire’: What Charlie Barnett’s Been Doing Since Leaving the Show

A fan favorite during Chicago Fire’s earlier seasons, Charlie Barnett left the show after a few seasons. With him leaving six years ago, what has he been doing in the meantime though?

A quick glance at his IMDb page reveals Barnett has been involved in a few projects the past few years and currently stars on an NBC drama. In 2015, he starred in an ABC soap Secrets and Lies, which unfortunately only lasted a single season. In 2017, he then moved to a CW military drama, Valor. That too only aired for one season. Additionally, he starred in Netflix’s Tales of the City adaptation. He also appeared on You, a psychological Netflix drama.

Nonetheless, when it comes to Netflix shows, you’ll probably remember him from Russian Doll the most. In this show, Barnett played Alan Zaveri alongside Nadia Vulvokov (Natasha Lyonne) and he’s caught in a time loop. The two attempt to meet and break this infinite cycle. Often unsuccessful, they eventually manage to accomplish their task. Though the show will air a second season, Barnett’s involvement remains unclear.

As previously stated, Charlie Barnett now co-stars in Ordinary Joe, an NBC drama. In this show, Joe Kimbreau (James Wolk) is a college student unsure of what he wants to do. He has three occupations in mind, but can’t seem to nail down which one to pursue. The show explores three realities, with each following a different career path. Barnett plays Eric Payne, Kimbreau’s close friend, and even associate in one of the realities.

You can watch Ordinary Joe Monday nights on NBC at 10 p.m.

‘Chicago Fire’ Stella Actress Miranda Rae Mayo Doesn’t Want to Say Goodbye to the Show

Like Charlie Barnett, stars on Chicago Fire come and go. There’s been speculation and talk Stella actress Miranda Rae Mayo may depart soon too, though she isn’t quite ready to say goodbye yet.

Mayo spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of leaving, among other subjects. Mayo acknowledges the possibility but still expresses a desire to stay on the show. “Fingers crossed,” Mayo stated. “I’m not ready [to say goodbye to Stella].

Furthermore, she said she realizes things change and nothing is permanent, but the experience has been great for her. “There’s just a part of this industry though that I think it’s healthy and good to practice detachment by really embracing the impermanent nature of life. And how everything changes and everything grows. So, no matter what happens, this has been one of the most transformational experiences of my life. But, you know, you always gotta be ready for what might happen.”

Teasing some “delicious content” between her and Severide, it really would be a shame for her to leave as her character is getting screentime again.
