A bunch of Chicago Med stars just signed new multi-year deals. This is great news for fans of the show, who definitely don’t want to see any more of their favorite characters leave. Chicago Med is an important part of the Chicago franchise on NBC.

The drama follows a team of medical professionals as they work to save lives while navigating their own personal dramas. It’s executive produced by Dick Wolf, who also created the Law & Order franchise. Chicago Med is one year into a three-season pickup. And it could go on beyond those next couple of seasons.

Chicago Med is very well-rated. In fact, it’s the most-watched scripted series for NBC Live+Same Day. According to Deadline, the new agreements will keep everyone who signed on board through season 8 at least. The show recently finished its sixth season.

You’ll See Almost Everyone Back on ‘Chicago Med’ Next Season

Award-winning Sharon Goodwin actress S. Epatha Merkerson will make a return to the show. The former Law & Order actress and current Chicago Med lead plays the chief administrator of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Dr. Daniel Charles actor Oliver Platt has also signed a new multi-year deal for Chicago Med. Charles is the chief of the Psychiatry department at the hospital.

Fans of Will Halstead can also let out a breath. Actor Nick Gehlfuss is in it for the long-haul.

Finally, former Navy Flight Surgeon Dr. Ethan Choi will also make a return to the hit series. Actor Brian Tee has also agreed to stay on.

If you don’t see your favorite character on this list, don’t worry. Some actors are still set to return. For instance, Marlyne Barrett, who plays nurse Maggie Lockwood, has one year left on her contract and doesn’t need to renew it this year.

Two Actors, Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto have Exited the Series

With storylines wrapped up, April Sexton actress Yaya DaCosta and Dr. Natalie Manning actress Torrey DeVitto have left the series.

DaCosta posted a sweet farewell on her Instagram, writing that “the cast and crew were so good to me and the background actors gave me so much energy and love, even in silence. Thank you Alex for always keeping my makeup on point! Thank you, Rukey! Thank you, Albert, for coming in for the last 2 seasons of April’s hair story! And this phenomenal cast!!!”

DeVitto also said her goodbyes on Instagram.

“It has been such an honor and pure joy to bring Dr. Natalie Manning to life for all of you on Chicago Med for the past 6 seasons. But it is now time for her and me to bow out and say goodbye. Thank you to all you loyal watchers who adored her as much as I did,” she wrote.

While it’s always sad to see cast members leave, the current lineup still looks great. While we don’t know the exact length the cast has signed on for, fans can rejoice that they’ll get at least two more years with Sharon Goodwin, Dr. Daniel Charles, Will Halstead, and Ethan Choi.
