“Chicago PD” and the rest of the One Chicago franchise wrapped up in May. Since the shows’ conclusions, fans have been on their toes waiting for closure on the previous seasons’ finales. Finally, the wait will soon be over. However, Outsider is happy to share with you some of the most important highlights and spoilers from season 9 of “Chicago PD.”
First off, we have good news for One Chicago fans across the board. Graciously, One Chicago production has signed a new deal for all three of the franchise’s shows. These include “Chicago PD,” as well as “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med.”
This means fans have at least three more seasons of the shows to look forward to.
Additionally, showrunners were kind enough to release the premiere episodes’ synopses. Finally, we were given some indication as to where “Chicago PD” will go from the nerve-wracking season 8 finale. The synopsis reads: “When a P.D. informant is murdered, the team digs in to track down the perpetrator only to learn a shocking truth. Voight (Jason Beghe) and Ruzek (Patrick John Fleuger) strategize to help Burgess (Marina Squerciati).”
More importantly, as far as fan-favorite characters go, all of the main cast members, including Marina Squerciati whose character suffered several gunshots during the season 8 finale, plan to return. To see how the officer recuperates and recovers in season 9 will definitely be interesting.
And finally, while no official trailer has seen release for “Chicago PD” Season 9, NBC did share a pretty rad first look video. The clip features not only the law enforcement side of One Chicago, but a peek into the new seasons of “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med” as well.
‘Chicago PD’ Premiere Pics Are Missing One Face
Insiders have confirmed that all of the “Chicago PD” main cast plan to return for Season 9 (and hopefully more). Although, the premiere pictures NBC previously released are interestingly missing one important face. And no, that’s not Officer Kim Burgess.
The premiere pictures lack the all-important face of Officer Adam Ruzek. While physically unharmed, he did experience major distress at the end of season 8. However, he did not suffer any physical harm or make any major decisions during the finale (as did Sergeant Hank Voight or Detective Hailey Upton). So where could he be?
Well, the clip above shows Ruzek sitting at Burgess’s bedside in the hospital, obvious concern spread across his face. So perhaps he’s simply too distressed to be on the job at the moment? We can’t be sure. However, at some point, Ruzek has to appear as the synopsis states he works with Voight to strategize ways in which to best help Burgess.
Regardless, all answers will come during the Season 9 finale. Fortunately for One Chicago fans overall, all three of the franchise’s hit shows premiere on NBC, Wednesday, September 22nd. “Chicago PD” Season 9 premieres at 10 p.m.
