Chicago PD star Sophia Bush is officially off the market, and she finally shared a photo of her gorgeous diamond ring with us. “Leaning into this happiness,” Bush wrote alongside her Instagram announcement, which is paired with a joyful selfie.
In her Tuesday (August 17th) post, Bush gave her fans all the feels as she posed next to her soon-to-be husband, Grant Hughes. Bush, who found fame on the CW’s One Tree Hill, is all smiles as she casually shows off her new square-shaped diamond ring. And Hughes appears to be overtaken with affection as he kisses his fiance on her cheek.
Sophia poured emotion into her caption as she shared her news. “I am deeply aware that joy is not an option for so many around the world in this moment. Clinging to gratitude right now because today it is an option for me. I wish this — in whatever version feels true for anyone who might see this — for you. Yes you.” She began.
“I wish you joy. Love. The feeling of being seen. Of being safe. Of being held,” Sophia Bush wrote. And then, she then emotionally wished happiness upon each and every friend and fan as she continued her message, “Of falling asleep with a smile on your face. All my love to you. In these wild times. All of the good squeeze kind. All of ours.”
An Italian Engagemt for ‘Chicago PD’s Sophia Bush
Sophia Bush shared the picture of her new sparkler a week after Grant Hughes, co-founder of FocusMotion, popped the question. And she took to social media to share the details.
The swoon-worthy engagement took place in a wooden boat on Lake Como in Italy. Bush, who co-hosts the Drama Queen podcast with One Tree Hill’s Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz, posted a romantic sunset picture of Hughes on one knee. Bush said “yes” against a serene Italian backdrop.
Sophia looked effortlessly beautiful as she accepted her new diamond. She was wearing a long, flowing brown dress, and she styled her hair in loose waves. Hughes dressed sharply in a blue blazer and faded jeans as he took his fiance’s hand.

Bush Suffers a Tragic Loss
On the heels of her exciting engagement news, Sophia Bush mourned the tragic loss of co-star Markie Post.
Bush had grown close to her on-set mother over the years. In fact, she considered Post to be a real-life mother figure. And in an Instagram post, Bush posted a tribute to the Hearts Afire starlet.
“Markie was the kind of set momma who made you feel invincible and gave you permission to be vulnerable and tender.” She told her nearly 4 million followers.
Post, who played Bush’s mother on NBC’s Chicago P.D., had been battling cancer. unfortunately, The 70-year-old star passed on August 7th, 2021.
