Rock music star Chris Daughtry will be postponing the foreseeable future of his concert tour after his family learned of the sudden death of his daughter.

Chris Daughtry is a popular singer, songwriter, and actor. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Daughtry. You probably recall that he started the band after placing fourth during the fifth season of the singing competition series American Idol. His self-titled debut album became the fastest-selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history. It sold more than one million copies within five weeks of release.

A rep for the singer confirmed to PEOPLE on Friday that his daughter, 25-year-old Hannah, has passed away. She was found dead in her home by the Nashville Police Department.

“Due to the unexpected death of Chris and Deanna Daughtry’s daughter, Hannah, all currently scheduled shows for the coming week for Daughtry have been postponed. The Daughtry family thanks you for your understanding and respectfully asks for privacy during this very difficult time. Further details will be made available at a later date. The investigation into this tragic death is still ongoing.”

Chris, 41, and Deanna, 48, met back in 2000. Hannah and her younger brother Griffin, 23, are Deanna’s two children from a previous relationship. However, the couple also shares two children of their own — twins Adalynn Rose and Noah James. They are 10 years old.

Chris Daughtry Spoke About Overcoming Difficult Obstacles in 2019

In 2019, Chris Daughtry opened up to the outlet about how he and his wife have overcome some challenging obstacles throughout the course of their marriage. They will have to use that experience to move past this tragic situation as well.

“I think we’ve been committed enough to learn as we go and realize that we’re still trying to figure it out,” Daughtry said at the time.

“It’s like the universe knew that we were going to help each other grow,” Deanna added. “And each of us was going to be exactly what the other needed.”

Daughtry has always had the mindset that it takes surviving a crisis together to get really close to someone. It’s just so unfortunate that this is the kind of tragedy that he and his wife will have to face together.

“[That’s] when real growth happens,” he said. “That’s when real closeness happens. That’s when you can say, I love this person, not because it’s fun and new right now. I love this person because she just dealt with some real bulls — of mine that I’m dealing with myself, and she’s strong enough to stand by me and get through it with me. And hopefully, we come out stronger together. And we have.”
