Chris Wilson, Texas Game Wardens Sergeant From ‘Lone Star Law,’ Dies at 43

Sad news for “Lone Star Law” fans as a Texas Game Wardens Sergeant who appeared on the Animal Planet show has died at 43 years old.

Chris Wilson died from COVID-19-related health complications. Texas Game Warden officials revealed his cause of death on Friday, according to an article from Pop Culture.

“Sgt. Wilson proudly served Texas as a State Game Warden with great purpose, pride, and dedication,” Parks and Wildlife officials told KXXV on Friday. “His End of Watch leaves a hole in the hearts of many who knew him.”

Officials said Wilson died on Thursday night at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. Fellow game wardens escorted his remains to a mortuary on Thursday night.

He appeared on one “Lone Star Law” episode in the show’s first season in 2016. The Animal Planet show follows Texas Parks and Wildlife Department members around and shows their interactions with the public. Wilson was with TPWD for 16 years and worked in Bell County, which is north of Austin.

‘Lone Star Law’ Continues To Show TPWD Interactions

As we mentioned, “Lone Star Law” continues to show Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officers meeting with members of the public.

These game wardens keep people out hunting or fishing in line with state regulations. Outsiders who find themselves out in the lake or sitting in their deer stand understand they are out there for everyone’s safety. “Lone Star Law” can be seen on Animal Planet. It has been on there for eight seasons. Episodes can be found on the Discovery+ website, too. Catch “Lone Star Law” when you want to do so.

Don’t let the image of game wardens being tough to dominate your thoughts. Sometimes, they will take the initiative and reach out to citizens for ideas. This happened earlier in 2021 in Polk County, Texas, as they arranged a deer hunt for a disabled military veteran and youngster.

They held a drawing through social media and entry details were reportedly shared in the TPWD website’s Field Notes section. Community members and businesses also pitched in to make it happen.

Navy Veteran, His Son Picked Up First Prize In Deer Hunt

A retired Navy veteran and his son won the deer hunt. It ended up not being a hard choice because his son was hunting for the first time.

“The father and son joined game wardens on the Simon Peter Bend Ranch for an amazing hunt,” according to game warden field notes. “Both hunters and the landowner were thrilled about the experience, and now plan to keep in contact with one another.”

Obviously, it is things like this that people who watch “Lone Star Law” might or might not see. Game wardens act as law enforcement out in the great outdoors. Every state has them but Texas has a lot of open lands, rivers, and lakes from Orange to El Paso, from Amarillo to Laredo.
