Clint Eastwood’s son Scott takes after his dad in several ways. Not the least of which is his work ethic.

As Scott Eastwood once told the Chicago Sun-Times, he learned a lot about hard work as a kid from spending his summers on Clint Eastwood’s sets.

“If I wasn’t in school, I was on his sets as a kid,” he said. “I had to earn my keep, which was good. It was quite an education. You don’t want to just be ‘the son.’ You want to be part of the team.”

And in a 2015 interview with Cowboys & Indians magazine, Scott stressed that his work ethic owes a lot to his dad. He estimated that his overall personality developed partly from his father’s influence and partly from his mother’s.

“Oh, it’s 50-50, you know? From my dad, I got a no-bullshit attitude: Go out there, work hard,” Scott said. “The world’s what you make it. If you want something, you’ve got to go and get it, and people get what they want. So if you go out and you work hard, you’ll get it. If you want it bad enough, you’ll get it.”

As for his mom, a former flight attendant with whom Clint Eastwood also has a daughter, Scott said she instilled the softer qualities in him.

“She told me to be honest and to be caring and sensitive. And not be so selfish,” he said.

Scott also takes after his father in another way: he’s a bit of a tough guy. He has taken a road trip up the Skeleton Coast in Namibia, nearly crashed a helicopter on a snowboarding trip in the Canadian Rockies and gotten held down by a big wave in Australia.

And, as Men’s Journal reported in a 2018 feature, he also got a blue belt in jiujitsu, once backpacked the John Muir Trail and has remodeled his own kitchen.

But for all he’s done to prove himself, Scott still speaks of his father with a sort of awed hero-worship. He’s worked with Clint before and would like to again.

“I’m a massive fan of my father,” Scott told Men’s Journal. “I really admire him. I’d love to do another movie with him before he’s done doing movies. That would be a dream come true.”

And who knows? The elder Eastwood is still kicking, so Scott’s dream may yet come to pass.
