Clint Eastwood’s ‘Cry Macho’ Costar Confirms He’s Still Tough-as-Nails at 91 Years Old

Few, if anyone, question the toughness of legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood. The star of his new hit film “Cry Macho” can attest…he’s still got as much cowboy grit as ever.

Clint Eastwood’s latest offering hit theaters on Friday and is largely drawing positive reviews. A big reason for the “Cry Macho” success is the outstanding cast that Eastwood has put together. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to star in a western-style film with Clint Eastwood? The Hollywood icon made his name by starring in western flicks and “Cry Macho” is a return to his roots.

In his earlier western films, Eastwood typically plays the tough guy who does battle with the film’s central antagonist. He’s played the legendary characters of “Dirty” Harry Callahan, Walt Coogan and Marshal Jed Cooper. Now, at 91-years-old, Clint Eastwood still has it according to his “Cry Macho” co-star Fernanda Urrejola.

In a recent interview with Albuquerque, New Mexico Journal, “Cry Macho” actress Fernanda Urrejola says she jumped at the chance to star alongside Clint Eastwood.

“Working with Clint, I wanted to be there,” she says. “And the role was so great. My character was full of pain, and she’s on a journey of discovery in the film.”

The actress also says Clint Eastwood is at the top of his game in “Cry Macho,” even at his advanced age.

“Other people his age were hiding, and he was doing three jobs on this production,” she says. “He was the protagonist in the film, and for me, that was amazing. I wanted to get involved in that energy.”

‘Cry Macho’ Hits Theaters and HBO Max This Weekend

Urrejola says she was super-excited to see Clint Eastwood on the “Cry Macho” set each day of shooting. She calls him an inspiration and believes others will see that as well in this film.

“I loved that it’s a redefinition of what being a man is,” she says. “It’s understanding that it’s never too late to redeem yourself and learn how to love again. That was a beautiful journey because the two characters came together and learned from each other.”

Urrejola’s character, Leta, is on a journey of her own in the flick. Leta is battling mental and physical health issues as well as substance abuse. She also says “Cry Macho” is about finding the inspiration to fight through battles — which is especially important with the COVID-19 pandemic sticking around.

“This is a perfect time for the film, because we are rediscovering purpose and who we are because of COVID,” she says. “This film gives people an opportunity to be inspired and think about their own journeys.”

Clint Eastwood’s “Cry Macho” hit theaters and streaming services just yesterday (Friday). The movie is drawing positive reviews and figures to do well at the Box office. In addition to theaters, the film can also be found for streaming on HBO Max.
