Famed actor and director Clint Eastwood rose to the top of stardom at a young age. His reputation in Hollywood is legendary at this point. And while his children may have followed in his footsteps, Eastwood didn’t give them a free ride.

Okay, so maybe Eastwood’s son Scott had it easier picking up acting gigs than most. After all, it would be difficult for anyone to ignore the Eastwood name. It doesn’t hurt that Scott also inherited his father’s easy good looks and sandy blonde hair. However, the legendary icon didn’t let Scott just get away with anything.

In an interview recently, Scott opened up to share that he respects his father for making him work hard for everything he has. This lesson is an important part of Scott’s life, he says, because it taught him to develop a similar work ethic.

“My dad never gave me a cent. He made me work for everything,” Scott says in an interview with Express.

Further, Eastwood’s strict regimen when it came to his diet taught Scott about the importance of discipline and self-care.

“My dad is a machine about food and exercise. He showed me how to lift when I was 14 or 15 — the bench press and other basics. He made it clear it was more important to do the moves correctly than to put on more plates,” he says.

And it appears that Scott took that advice and example to heart. The 35-year-old is both an actor and model. He’s appeared in a number of films including “Gran Torino” and “Trouble with the Curve” alongside Eastwood.

Further, Scott Eastwood learned perseverance from his Oscar-winning dad. The actor hopes to establish a career as long as his 91-year-old father, and he has an idea how to do that.

“I just do what he does: Keep moving forward. You can’t look back or think about that kind of stuff too much. You just keep making movies; hopefully, you make some good ones. Probably gonna make some bad ones along the way,” said Scott.

Clint Eastwood’s example to his children reflects in his daily life as well. This is because he chooses to stay grounded despite his successful and storied career in Hollywood. It would have been east for the leading man to get caught up in the more seedy parts of the industry after decades of experience. But Eastwood’s take has always been to keep things simple, eat a proper diet and get enough rest.

At 91-years-old, the actor is still taking on roles and directing/producing. Of growing older, Eastwood has said the best approach is just to enjoy it and not stress too much.

We suppose with several Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Peoples’ Choice and numerous others, it’s okay to enjoy getting older and reveling in your successes. Eastwood is definitely doing it the right way: with humility.
